^How else are you going to fit in a sidewalk that currently doesn’t exist?May 20, 2016 10:26 am at 10:26 am in reply to: Platform Beer (Cleveland) setting up shop near Columbus State #1127547
Unless you think that beer drinkers will suddenly stop wanting to drink craft beer and will go back to Budweiser…is that it?
Re: breweries in Columbus/Ohio – I believe the ABV limit was a hold up for Stone? Seems like that limit is going away (I don’t think any other states around have that law) so it’s possible other breweries from elsewhere in the country/world will consider Ohio even more than before. The article also states that Ohio is up to some 200+ breweries at the moment.
Juniors seems to have set up at the corner of 5th and NW Blvd.
The corner with Taco Bell and Chipotle?
Yelpers seem disappointed with the place so far. A lot of 1-2 star reviews recently.
Several NBA teams struggled (relatively) with attendance – Philly, Minnesota, Denver, Detroit, Milwaukee, New Jersey, Washington…even Atlanta with a playoff team couldn’t draw 17K fans/night.
While Ohio State did struggle with tickets last year, they’ve been consistently selling 16K/game in previous years – http://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-basketball/2016/03/69216/ohio-state-mens-basketball-average-attendance-lowest-since-1998
Ticket sales aren’t apples-to-apples as the price points are very different between the NCAA and NBA as are the number of home games played.
According to this – https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/2a5k0p/nba_media_market_rankings/ – Columbus has a market size greater than only 5-6 current NBA cities, while there are at least 10 other larger markets than Columbus without an NBA team.
I don’t see the NBA in Cbus for quite some time, if ever. As others said, Seattle is next in line most likely should they ever want to expand. While the facilities (Nationwide) are already in place in Columbus, I’m not sure the demand is there for a profitable team. Cleveland, Indianapolis, Detroit…all have teams within 2-3 hours of Columbus.
It’s the same reason Cleveland won’t get an NHL team. Columbus, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Buffalo all have teams. Just as Cleveland has a minor league team (doing well in the playoffs!) associated with the NHL team here in Columbus, we have a AAA baseball team associated with Cleveland’s MLB team. Clippers, Crew, Blue Jackets…plus Ohio State football/basketball and I think there is enough supply of sports entertainment in the market right now. I have trouble seeing a way that a Columbus NBA team sells tickets 41 nights a year when the CBJ play 41 home games and OSU men’s basketball plays 20+ home games a year.
Fairly long delay on finding a replacement for WTM…Flaming Lips will headline Friday night. They just said they will be offering $20 off on single day passes through May. No word on how that impacts the 3-day passes people bought.
Honestly, Forecastle Fest in Louisville that same weekend is the same price/cheaper and looks a lot better.
Season 2 was awful and uninteresting, imo.May 5, 2016 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm in reply to: Condado – Tacos, Tequila & Margaritas – Short North #1125622
Downtown location is not opening today.
I dislike this.
This is going to end up costing people more on average per ride since the Expectation of a tip will very very quickly become the norm. One of my favorite parts of Ubers is the fact that I do not HAVE to tip.
You still don’t HAVE to tip with this change.May 3, 2016 11:55 am at 11:55 am in reply to: Looking to Rent!(short north, victorian village, Italian Village, Arena District #1125287
Season 2 is in full swing.
I’ve enjoyed season 2 more, but it quickly moved into “Survival mode.” I was hoping season 1/2 provided more about how society got to where it did in TWD. Instead, it just jumped into survival mode for the group. There are still some interesting points with Strand v.s. the family and where exactly Strand intends to go.
I think it’s decent but could have been done better.
It makes you look like a dick.
And if your pissed that your neighborhood isn’t hip/busy enough get off your butt and get a better job to buy out the home owners that are exhausted with your drunk eating out every night taking up parking visiting carpetbagger noisy selfs.
All in the same paragraph. Well done.April 19, 2016 9:32 am at 9:32 am in reply to: Condado – Tacos, Tequila & Margaritas – Short North #1122968
^Only two down sides – the noise level (music always seems too loud for my taste) and the crowd. I wonder if in the summer it thins out with more patio use. I’ll have to see as they make some of the best margaritas in the city -> the blood orange specifically.
