Prediction: within a couple of years, the price for an Uber ride won’t be that different for the price of a comparable cab ride. The only real cost efficiency I can see is the lack of need for a dispatcher, otherwise all of the other costs are very close to the same – car maintenance, cost of gas, income significant enough to make it worth working for them, etc.

Even the lack of benefits associated with being a ‘contractor’ will have to come from somewhere, and I doubt that government is going to be willing to allow such a high profile company set the precedent that it’ll come from the public coffers.

Maintaining big digital database on the internet is not cheap. A cab dispatcher makes what, $15/ hour? How much does a big data system cost?

Cruz and Kasich are both out on the republican side. Looks like Trump is their man.

NPR is reporting that Kasich has bowed out of the race. Donald Trump is 99.9% likely to be the GOP nominee.

Why even bother dropping out at this point? Might as well stay in and keep things interesting.

On the democrat side, Bernie is still fighting.

The garage I park in on north 4th and Gay also had signs up this morning trumpeting the end of early bird parking beginning May 1st.
Of course they promised they weren’t raising their rates, just eliminating the early bird parking.
That’s kind of exactly what you did, though.

I think this is also a City owned garage being run by a private company. LAZ parking.

IKR? they just raised the rates for people who park all day, which is like MOST of the people.

OMG this actually is a TV show plot. It’s the same plot as on Bates motel. The two corrupt local pot families are shooting it out in rural Oregon. Except on the TV show they keep making all the bodies disappear and the FBI never shows up.

But it’s been just the opposite in Ohio, Crime has been falling in Columbus, more than in the other big cities in Ohio.

I say Columbus adopts a minimum wage that is equal to the state min wage + $2/hr, and that goes up to a $15 cap. That would put it at $10-something now, and it wouldn’t hit $15 until the state’s minimum hit $13, at that point it would stay at $15 until the state or federal minimum passed $15.

Appears that the statewide minimum wage was set by the 2006 constitutional amendment without a provision for allowing municipalities to alter it for private employers.

Does the amendment preclude municipalities from raising it? That’s interesting if that’s the case. I’m guessing the people who put that amendment together never foresaw the minimum wage tsunami that was coming, and it didn’t occur to them to put that in.

There was very little progress in the story arc. It was more of a “lets remind everyone what was going on when we left” kind of episode.

I guess the biggest thing was the Dorne stuff. But that has been maybe my least favorite story line. Sansa meeting up with Brienne is kind of a big deal

Yes, this is interesting! Considering that at this point in the books, Brienne is dead, I’m really curious to see where the TV writers take this story line. The Sansa story line is the most original story line to the TV series, and it’s like seeing something new. I kind of like it.

ADA handicap requirements are a big cost. Wheel chair ramps and redesigned bathrooms can add 10s of thousands of dollars to the cost of opening a new business, particularly in an older building.

What happens to a job that costs 15 dollars an hour due to regulation that doesn’t cover its cost with revenue?
    It goes away.

But don’t they have these arguments every time there’s a minimum wage increase? And don’t employment levels eventually get back to the same 4-5% unemployment every time? $15 is a lot but maybe some raise is in order? Maybe if they had been raising a little bit every few years all along, then we would never have gotten to this $15 benchmark?

Whether you believe it’s justified or not, it is a fact of human nature that when the rich get too rich, for too long, the poor will inevitably rise up with pitchforks and torches and revolt over it. So, unless the rich want to hide on the moon, they’ll have to admit that there are just limits as to how rich the rest of the population will let them get before the guillotines come out.

Most residential areas have a 10 foot easement on all boundaries of your parcel. I built a shed a few years back without checking. I ended up having to jack it up and roll it ten feet off the property line. I would make sure you check first!

Rolling a shed is no big deal. But I wanted an elevated floor so it stays clean and dry, and so I want to put it up on posts.
