Episode 4 was vintage Thrones. Highlights:
Jon Snow & Sansa reunion = BLISS
Littlefinger scheming = resulting in good things to come (hopefully)
Khaleesi with her signature power move = never not awesome
[Just like when she got the dragons in Season 1 – a circling back – but this time she’s a wiser leader]
I freaking love what’s going on in the North. Give ’em hell, Sansa
Generally speaking, I’d say most places are pro-baby
-Hoover Dam near railings
-Arby’s on 3rd
-Bicentennial Park Fountains past the curfew
-Doo Dah Parade
-Comfest (after the drugs start kicking in)
Other than those places, you should be alright
^^ but conversely, won’t the cost of a cab ride adapt to the (cheaper for now) cost of an Uber ride?
Jeepers the action in Season 6 has not slowed down!!
But most importantly – Willis (Hodor) could talk! Nice!
There’s bound to be an episode or two upcoming in which we can catch our (and Jon Snow’s) breath
I agree with Walker. It seems like this episode is building toward some exciting stuff going on in the North – with a bunch of potential convergences among Sansa & Brienne / Boltons / Jon Snow / Red Lady / Wildlings & Davos / White Walkers / Bran (?) etc
Then the B plot for the season in the south – Martells vs Lannisters. Still don’t love the stuff I’ve seen so far of the Martells left – Ellaria and the Sand Snakes, but we’ll see what happens now that they have the power in Dorne. I def did not see Doran & Trystane getting killed. Jaw droppedMarch 30, 2016 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm in reply to: Upcoming Kickstarter Campaign for Lockable Bike Lights #1120494
This sounds awesome, Todd H!
I have subscribed to help get this kickstarter going when it’s off the ground
I know Uber drivers aren’t supposed to accept tips – but if you offer, they decline initially (and halfheartedly), then if you insist they’ll take it
yeah, not having to handle cash for tipping will be nice, because I usually don’t pay attention if I have some singles or not
and I agree – the competition b/t Uber and Lyft should be good for pricing
As of last Thursday, Lyft is apparently back in Columbus. Apologies if this was already posted elsewhere
The prices are pretty comparable to Uber, right?
I use Uber pretty often, and am generally satisfied, but it would be nice to tip the driver through an app (instead of handing some cash to the Uber driver as I leave, if I have cash on me)February 2, 2016 4:35 pm at 4:35 pm in reply to: Undervalued Downtown Real Estate Encourages Speculation #1113146
Pro Se –
is the amount the auditor appraised for these downtown buildings (like the $287k appraisal in the SPG example) taking into account the downtown economic development-type tax credits on the property? Or are those separate from the deflated appraisal?
If separate, the property owners would often pay much less in taxes than what it was even appraised as. Depending on the fed/state/local tax credits they were awarded
-fun action, fresh and witty dialogue (the Abrams touch)
-sets up a lot of new characters/ideas – a good base for the series to jump from
-the scenes focusing on the new characters – esp loved Ridley, Kylo Ren, BB8, and Maz
-settings and details were beautiful – all the new aliens esp
-plot – basically a remake of A New Hope
-story – a tad bit action-heavy over dialogue. they’re always running – like constantly – from one planet to the next. Stop for a breather, guys. and what’s the deal with the First Order vs the Republic, again?
-the scenes focusing on the old characters – notably, the reuniting of Leia and Han – the acting was quite wooden, the writing pretty banal (although I know the scenes had to be there). Overall, Harrison Ford was better than I expected him to be – but that said, I expected pretty bad.
-a couple headscratching plot sequences that hopefully get justified in sequels – e.g. R2D2 turning on at just the right time; a bit too easy for the good guys to escape confinement multiple times (Poe, Han and Chewie, Rey, Finn)
The strengths definitely outweigh the weaknesses. I’m a big sci fi/fantasy movie fan, so compared to other innovative concepts, I know it’s a bit unrealistic to expect Star Wars to blow your mind in the story (concept) department. It’s a fun action movie with some good new characters, basically, and it sets up the series nicely for the sequels. Looking forward to seeing Episode 7 again this week.
This looks great.
Relatedly, I re-watched Inarritu’s Birdman recently – such a powerful movie, so many moving (and hilarious) scenes. Def was even better on the 2nd viewing
nobody should buy a house in OTE.
or rather, not until I buy MY house in the neighborhood, and then home values can subsequently rise :-)
I’ve been a renter in OTE for the last 3 years – absolutely love it here. Never had a crime problem myself
I saw the premiere — I thought it was fantastic. He’s got so much energy and enthusiasm, and he’s not afraid to get freaking weird/absurb with his humor.
Look up his bit from last night about a cursed amulet making him sell out and shill for a hummus brand. The jokes didn’t all hit, but the fact that he was willing to try this stuff on his first night is a good sign.
Plus, he’s a fantastic interviewer. The Jeb Bush interview was as hard-hitting as any “serious” tv journal show like 60 Minutes will get nowadays. Colbert the interviewer seems to be fun and fast-paced, but also not afraid to get earnest and scathing.
gave me a chuckles. via The Onion
