Honestly CMAX in plain black Arial font would look better.. but whatever. My main issue is that this is somehow still 3 years away. I still don’t understand how it takes longer than a summer construction season to put in nicer stops and buy some buses equipped with whatever they need for signal priority, but I guess that’s why I’m not a city transit planner. It seemed like CBUS went from conception to operation within a few months, certainly less than a year once it was decided to do it?

If your first criteria mentioned is financial impact on the community, wouldn’t the Hilton be pretty much at the top?

true, but for all we know maybe at the larger scale all they could afford to do was the 270-style, and making it a little smaller allowed for a higher quality building?

Wait! It’s not just the backward villagers of the University Area Commission who want to see new development that relates to a neighborhood’s existing architecture? ;)

Because 1 more story and 32 more units would’ve totally changed the entire character of the neighborhood.

It resulted in a much better looking building, so I guess it worked.

If you are thinking about saving parking money and biking up to the med school you could try to be closer to Olentangy for easier access to the bike path.

The car shop, while not pretty, seems to do decent business.. or at least their lot is always full. Plus they have a food truck, so they’ve got that going for them. As the rest of the area develops though, they are going to look more and more out of place.

    Interesting take on things.

To me it seems there are plenty of empty spaces around Columbus to continue growing without more outward expansion.. I see encouraging that infill as the best solution rather than continuing outwards to/past the exurbs.

Was ComFest rowdier this year than typically? I heard word of two scuffles on Friday, fights between two people, but nothing that got out of hand. Was Saturday’s Dispatch article implying other issues?: “Police said the combination of the weather and a rowdy crowd led to some fights and property damage.”

I wasn’t there long, but as things were getting shut down a few people were getting tackled by several police officers, while the rest of the police were yelling and screaming at everyone to move faster.. so I guess that’s where the rowdy crowd was. Further away from there the police were just like normal.

hahaha,, I love that 80’s version. Now I’m going to have the MIDI/Chiptune version of the theme song stuck in my head all day.

For me a mixture of cost and unfamiliarity are what have kept me from going to a Crew game. I’ve been to plenty of Clippers games because it’s so cheap.. I looked into going to Crew games a few times and it just seemed like a lot for a sport that I never watch. Cost isn’t the *only* factor though because I do go to a few CBJ games a year and make a trip down to Cincinnati for Reds games at least once a year, which are more expensive. But for a team/sport that I don’t already care that much about, I found Crew prices to be too high for me..

Also don’t dismiss Sumo wrestling so easy. It’s been around so long for a reason.

Riding through the short north and campus around the start of the game today I could just about follow the action from hearing it playing everywhere. Eddie George’s looked to have a pretty big crowd considering it was noon on a Thursday.

I agree with the comment that it was a bad sign when Bakersfield was packed and two fish was practically empty.

That’s pretty much par for the course when it comes to a DaeOh restaurant.

Good points.. there’s hope yet for The Hound. Both he and his brother are near death at the same time, and as much as they’ve played them up it does seem like we’d get a grand old fight between the two of them eventually.
