Neil JayeMemberDid Columbus ever get into the whole gourmet insect food thing? I remember back home in DC there was a restaurant that specialized in insert dishes (can’t remember the name or if it’s still there).
Neil JayeMemberMy experience has been that St. Paddy’s Day is the worst day of the year to be on the road, drunk or not. It’s the only day of the year that bars generally open all day long and mass numbers of people start drinking at the crack of dawn. I generally avoid heavy drinking on that day if I have even the remotest chance of having to drive. And remember that the general “witching hours” rules (between 12a -3a) will not apply. Cops will be on full alert for erratic driving ALL DAY. If you’re drinking, take a cab or have a DD. Most bars offer free or discounted cab fare for drunk patrons. Use it. A $40 – $80 cab is FAR CHEAPER than the costs of a DUI.
Neil JayeMemberI love this show. My suspicions about Drew were correct, but it didn’t occur to me until last week. Great season so far. I am really interested if Dickie Bennett will play any role at all in this season.

The broader riverfront redevelopment into an entertainment district of sorts–or bringing Crew Stadium downtown–would be awfully interesting.
A new Crew Stadium would be GREAT! I think we’re in need of one and a new stadium would give the Crew and added little shot in the arm. But I doubt that will happen.

Neil JayeMemberI have been hearing rumors of a riverfront entertainment district for years with open patio bars, night clubs and even boat docks. Wonder if it’s finally being developed. Sucks that it will not happen this Summer regardless.
Neil JayeMemberI watched this last night and really enjoyed it. Very nice set up with strong character development and a neat twist with the FBI agent moving across the street. I do not think it’s quite as good as say Justified, but I do look forward to future episodes.
Neil JayeMemberThese are some accounts I have been told by friends who saw these people in Columbus over the years. Can not guarantee all of them as I personally did not see them, but…:
• Bruce Willis and Demi Moore at a concert with their kids in Polaris
• Woody Harrison at a restaurant in German Village
• Samuel L. Jackson at a bar in Polaris
• Seth Macfarlane in Short North (I was told he has a close relative in Columbus and is here several times a year.)
• Dave Chapelle at Easton. (can confirm this one. I had a picture in my old phone)
• Kate Upton at local hotel (probably many other model as well with Victoria Secrets being based here)
• Conchata Galen Ferrel; housekeeper on Two and a Half Men in Short North. Understand she has family or property and Centerville. Has been seen fairly often.
• Brent Musburger; I can confirm this personally. Came to Champps in Worthington after every OSU football game he covered.
• Morgan Freeman at Columbus Airport
• Luke Perry at a bar in Clintonville
• Tara Reid tailgating at an OSU game. Her brother did go to school here.
• Billy Bob Thornton at restaurant downtown.
• Jackie Mason at Cheesecake Factory Easton. Can confirm this. I met him.
• Harrison Ford at a hotel downtown

The last movie I saw in Dublin AMC was ‘Doubt’.It was awful. The seats and quality of the screen were so beyond sub-par. It looks untouched, and uncleaned since 1996.
I wouldn’t watch movies there for free.
Glad to see they’re finally giving a crap about it, not that I’ll be likely to return. I don’t live by it anymore.
Try the theater at the Continent. Yeah, its second run but my god. Cinemark Carriage Place does a decent job. This place is literally the worst theater I have EVER been to in my life. And that’s a lot of theaters.
Neil JayeMemberI think the definition of “art” is getting a little too broad.
Neil JayeMemberThis article may have already been referenced. If so, my bad. But, according to this article Columbus has virtually no chance of getting an NBA team. Actually, they seem to feel Dayton would have a better shot than Columbus…much better.

AMC Dublin has announced it is putting the reclining leather seats that are in Cinema Suites at Easton in every auditorium at Dublin 18 as well as converting the concession stand to a self-serve model with the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines–similar to Easton’s concession area.I think this could be good for AMC Dublin. I love the cinema suites at Easton. Dublin is a lot closer and generally cheaper than Easton and Lennox.

I imagine that the upstairs will probably be used as apartments, possibly by another entity. So the basement and main floor are 5000 sqft for $12083 per month. A percentage of the build out cost (tenant improvement) is usually worked into the length of the term of the lease.I don’t think that price is bad at all for that prime location. It takes money to make money.

Rent/operating costs:
Security deposit (typically one month of rent at $10,000 to $12,000)
First-month rent ($10,000 to $12,000)
First-month utilities, including Internet and phone service ($2,500)Ok, maybe I am doing my math wrong but this rent comes out to about $2.40 per sq foot and the previous post says $29 per sq ft. $2.40 is fairly reasonable for the area but $29 seems really high. Was it suppose to be 2.90 per sq ft or am I missing something?

I find this a bit surprising in relationship to Columbus, just because there’s a church on every corner here –and because it certainly seems more religious here than the East Coast. However, in regards to the larger religious decline, the American Christian church has no one to blame but ourselves. The shallowness of our theologies, the eager selling out to materialism, prosperity and greed, the naked hypocrisy, the proud intolerance, the anti-intellectualism, and most importantly the cheapening, trivialization and wholesale betrayal of Jesus’ message have all quite understandably turned many people away.
Well said.

Neil JayeMemberQuestion: Will this be a televised stop; i.e. Stern and Co showing up? I really don’t watch the show but is it a American Idol type of format where the judges show up to each city? It would be really cool it that was the cast.
