I received a letter from Arms Properties about my inquiry and they claim that everything is full steam ahead. So one of two things is happening; either they are blatantly lying or they’re telling the truth and things are just taking longer than expected. I tend to believe the latter until I see proof otherwise. I have documentation of their word that it’s going forward. I have seen no documentation for a forclosure.

I’ve emailed them to try to get a sitdown too.

And these are the reasons I think it would be cool for another “official” interview. But that’s just me.

the voice of nothing new happening still!

    That’s pretty funny too, haha.

Haha! “New baby” made me laugh. He’s almost 2. ;)
The real reason I haven’t been in a rush to do a follow up piece on Ibiza is because there are dozens of other projects going on out there that I’d prefer to give equal attention to rather than do monthly “nothing happening yet” reports on Ibiza. I just did a similar interview on the Whitney condos that are breaking ground soon, chatted with Cleve Ricksecker about interesting projects downtown this morning, and am headed to do a feature on the Jackson on Friday.
Personally, I’m not irate that Ibiza is taking longer than anticipated. I’d love to see it done sooner rather than later, not because I plan to live there, but because of the additional density, energy, and presence it will bring to the Short North. At the same time, I don’t think the developers are dragging their heels. I think they’ve just jumped into something that they’ve had little prior experience with (adding a publicly-funded garage component) and inaccurately announced their timelines for project completion.
When it happens it happens. Knowing how much longer you have to wait isn’t going to make the wait any shorter.

    Line 1: That IS funny!

Paragraph 1: Completely understand and agree, you’re only one man. This project seems to generate a lot of interest but I’m sure the other’s do as well.

Paragraph 2: I’m not irate either, just very concerned at the lack of communication coming from Ibiza. If you’re willing to take people’s money you should be out there giving updates. Delays will happen, but if you don’t want people to start C.U. threads about it, just communicate. Besides that, it’s only taking longer than expected b/c of the expectations that they keep setting.

Paragraph 3: Ain’t that the truth.

@JD3- I understand that walker was kind enough to do the initial interview to help clear up some of the questions raised on CU. However the guy has work to do and a new baby. As he uses CU as a method for Columbus discussion and information sharing. Anyone can call the Ibiza office, add rajesh on FB, or send and email to the folks in charge. Walker does enough for CU and 614 in general let the dude relax. Besides he already invested in a neighborhood!

Dude, relax. I just agreed with aaminian that it would be cool if C.U. did a follow up interview. It’s just a thought, nobody’s acting like it’s Walker’s responsibility or “demanding” that C.U. do another interview. It’s simply that Walker got further with this story than anybody else has. It’s not just conjecture from a username. I think it has some teeth when it comes from an interview from a trusted source like Walker and C.U.

man, you guys are really clamoring for more condos.
I guess i’m just not feelin’ the outrage on this one.

I’m just clamoring for some honesty and some hard dates. The condo is coming, the ground is bought and it might as well be done sooner than later. The outrage is that they’ve been advertising and selling these units to buyers then constantly delaying the start of construction, thus putting people’s plans into a tizzy. I was supposed to move in fall 2009. Due to that, I moved into a cheap rental, not close to work, to save money for 14 months. Now, it’s almost July 2009 and they don’t even know when they will start, let alone deliver the units. Seems justified to me.

Maybe Walker can get some answers for us- a follow-up interview perhaps?

    From the original interview:

Our offices are right here on High Street, so anyone can pop in and say hi to us and talk to us directly.

Anyone should be able to do follow up. ;)

I would still like to see an official CU follow up. I think there’s some accountability when the information is “published”. I’ve been hearing the same thing for a while now and now it honestly seems like nobody knows what’s going on. All I hear now is that it’s “with the state”. But nobody can tell me where in the state process it is. When I said that somebody from Ibiza had to send it to someone at the state I was told that the city sent it to the state. In other words, they couldn’t tell me who to contact for information…more run around.

I’m still hearing the same thing from them.

From Walker’s interview with Rajesh in March:
RL- “Now, we wanted to have all units done by late-Spring of 2010. We will just have the sold units done. Unsold units will take a little bit longer to finish. So we’re still able to deliver on time to everyone in contract.”
    Right.

I think they’ve been getting some numbers mixed up. Fall 2009 should have been Fall 2090, 2010 to 2100. Just a simple mix up.

According to Travis it’s “still with the state.” Does anybody know what branch of the state government something like this would go to?

    Anyone??

    I assume Development.

I called the Community Development Department and didn’t get a response yet. I’ve also sent Ibiza an email (twice btw) asking them which department the legislation is with.

You’re offering a “solution” to a “problem” that doesn’t really seem to exist, according to all of the information provided. The issue isn’t that Ibiza needs more people buying units right now… the issues is that they’re trapped behind extra layers of governmental red tape due to the public development component of the project (public parking garage) being paid for with taxpayer dollars. It sounds like there were a lot of extra hurdles in getting through this that the developers were unfamiliar with as their past projects did not require it.
Of course, maybe there are other things we’ve not been told… but I really don’t think what they need has anything to do with your proposal.

Agreed Walker, hopefully I hear back from Travis soon. I don’t think Enzo reads everything thoroughly.

    Any talk of name change???????

Sorry, no name change. I’d much prefer a landscape change on that corner than a name change.
