Twitter aggregates all my news. Cant imagine doing it any other way at this point, so convenient. Locally I follow the Dispatch, CU, Cols Biz 1st, 89.7 WOSU, maybe a few misc others.
“wild caught, trash-fed Canada Goose foie gras (illegal in California)”
OMG enjoy the extra five minutes you’re on your bike fercrissakes
I think the bigger piece that needs to be added for street vibrancy is bust out the walls of the convention center and add retail/restaurants. If they’re open to both sides I think it would make the skywalk only useful to people who really need it.
I would normally agree with you on this, Walker, but the Convention Center has already done the damage with killing any potential “vibrancy” on the east side of High St with that god awful remodel it did several years back. Hell, I’d rather not look at that monstrosity if I was a guest staying at the hotel and going to the convention center. The west side is going to be plenty vibrant with the hotel traffic, NM, Barley’s, Knead, Deepwood, and possibly Flip Side.
Hot ticket, indeed! Especially when he’s running those killer special sandwiches.
“Taxguy” is the most fun person Clintonville could find to retort. :(
What’s so bad about having a meeting to express frustrations to the City about the arbitrary and ever-changing regulations that mobile food vendors are forced to comply with?
It’s ironic to me that Clintonville is home to three food carts that people seem to really like (Ray Ray’s if you count where he’s at now, The Coop, Mya’s). They stay put, don’t drive all over the place, and people flock to them. When Foodie Cart used to set up here on the weekends, there was always a long line and he always sold out. The neighborhood supports good things.
The CAC had some serious problems but it looks like those are being worked through under new leadership (time will tell…).
BTW, if someone wants to open up a restaurant with alcohol sales, grab the mechanic lot across from Northstar. Would be a great spot. Big sign out front advertising that you can zone it as a restaurant with alcohol sales (due to a grandfather clause I believe?).
To be fair, when The Fan airs political ads, they are usually funded by right wing organizations. Also, as someone else has mentioned, the hosts of the show are fairly transparent republicans.
Cheaper rent is the obvious reason. In hindsight, I wonder if it was a bad move to take on the cursed Scottie MacBean’s– huge space to fill for a rather niche concept (no matter how normal it is to NE Ohioans!). I’ve known a few successful restauranteurs who have coveted that space and were frighted by the high rent. Damn shame– could be a great spot with the right concept if rent was reasonable and if the neighborhood was more welcoming.
Gay st would be ghost town without on street parking – same goes for the recent restaurant boom on 4th and main.
I’d venture to say Do Novo has to has valet parking to survive. Not that everyone uses it, but it gives the impression of easy parking vs going to the Columbus commons garage.
Sure. I should’ve clarified that I was referring specifically to High St north of Broad.
A big difference between the SN and downtown is the nature of the businesses catering to those seeking to park at a street meter. Short term retail/food visits vs ________? I’m trying to figure out the major user of downtown street meter parking…
Interesting how the lede paints this story as a battle of transit modes, when somehow I doubt that’s the case…
Sadly this is not true.
Motorcycle Rider Assaulted by Bicycle Riders[/url]
A Columbus man tells police that several people cut his motorcycle off with bicycles and began to assault him.
According to a report filed Sunday with Columbus police, a 34-year-old man was riding his motorcycle on the 1700 block of South Champion Avenue when three suspects rode their bicycles in front of him, causing him to stop.July 27, 2012 7:13 pm at 7:13 pm in reply to: Owner of The Garden/Chamber in Short North Arrested in bath salts bust #507896

I’m not saying your stories are false but your characterization of “a lot of those middle eastern guys” as MFers is ambiguous and slanderous.July 27, 2012 7:03 pm at 7:03 pm in reply to: Owner of The Garden/Chamber in Short North Arrested in bath salts bust #507895
Not sure if this has been brought up or not, but the thing I’m most curious about is the store owner’s actual role in the whole process. Did he design and manufacture the bath salts into the little fancy packages, or is he just the distributor?July 27, 2012 5:31 pm at 5:31 pm in reply to: Owner of The Garden/Chamber in Short North Arrested in bath salts bust #507868

This little nugget, along with your previous one about your brother with good wrestling moves, are interesting stories but hardly quantifiable.
