There is an up-tick of smash and grabs for the past few months. What we are seeing in most incidents is that they are breaking a window and going straight for the registers and in most cases not getting any cash as most businesses drop daily. In fact, the suspect does not go for merchandise.
I met with our community liaison officers 2 weeks ago and showed them the log of businesses we are tracking with all the details, day, time, description of suspect, what they took, was it reported, were they assigned to a detective, is there surveillance video etc.
There has been a consistent description of the suspect and the CPD do have video and fingerprints. We hope for an arrest soon.
Anne, you rock for finding all these deals :)September 2, 2011 9:08 pm at 9:08 pm in reply to: The Hub Mixed Use Apartment Development in The Short North – News & Updates #261368
And it looks like Wagenbrenner wins …
Wonder what the timeline looks like?

There is a Holiday Committee working on how to spruce up that space for November & December season to feel festive and inviting! Anyone have any ideas?
Actually, the SNBA was who originally asked to partner with Urban Scrawl to have them installed. I loved them. There were a few businesses and rumors of commissioners asking when they would be taken down. And since the lot will soon be developed (fingers crossed) Urban Scrawl took them back to their warehouse in Franklinton.
Urban Scrawl will be creating a new piece on the corner on Saturday, September 10th at Art al Fresco.
I always try to make it down for good eats…..
Can anyone tell me which are the best stands? It’s difficult deciding when they all have a gazillion trophy’s and flags:)
I am so excited for Short North Stage to finally be working in the Garden Theatre space. I’ve been impressed by all those involved to help get this launched. What a great addition to the neighborhood – Looking forward to the concert version of a famous musical this Fall in the unrenovated space.
Best of luck!
I’m in, super excited – fingers crossed the weather works out, soooo ready for spring!March 16, 2011 7:17 pm at 7:17 pm in reply to: The Joseph – Pizzuti Short North Hotel – News & Updates #390386

Anyone can offer an opinion or critique, but being a downtowner and urban dweller – the SNBA should be welcoming a) Pizzuti and figure out b) how to improve the parking options – they don’t need more residential on High Street…
The SNBA has no official say on the Pizzuti project.
The SNBA does not have official say on the Pizzuti project, however we do support the completion of the project based on the asset a parking garage brings to our businesses, the world class art gallery that attracts visitors, additional office spaces, and the customer that stays in a boutique hotel also shops in our independent retail shops and restaurants. We believe the project will be a strong positive impact for the district and the neighborhood.
I have attended 95% of the commission meetings in hopes to encourage the commissioners to approve the project. There’s a Victorian Village Commission meeting about the Pizzuti project tonight at 6pm at 109 N. Front Street if you’re interested please join us.
There are some colors we must be careful with (i.e. Red, Blue, Yellow, Green) due to emergency vehicles and traffic lights.
Thanks for the suggestions, I’m not sure we can do about Hot Air Balloon rides, but fun new light shows for sure!
I’m thrilled to see renovations begin, the building was a embarrassing eye sore and falling in from the ceiling. And had become the hang out of the local homeless.
Thanks IVC for demanding they keep the GoodyBoy sign! It’s exciting to know we’ll keeping the old and bring in the new. It’s a similar concept to what the Hubbard Grille marquee will represent.
So does anyone know if they are keeping any of the parking lot?
Tasi’s is amazing. A few of my out of town friends now request it every visit!

Hubbard Grille has an amazing team, polished – approachable – American food and a warm, modern atmosphere. Their other restaurants have a great reputation for good food and friendly staff.
I saw people in there last night for their family & friends night. I can’t wait to go.
