It’s disappointing they are showing a building directly west of COSI on axis with the COSI entry. I thought that was reserved for a outdoor paver plaza which could have been a really nice urban feature.
The park is also underwhelming. Here’s a park right outside a science and technology center and it looks as if it belongs in a royal garden. I was expecting something a little more edgy…
It’s sad they feel they have to brand these as extended stay hotels in order to avoid going to the Clintonville Area Commission. Unfortunately, a select few in Clintonville force every decent development proposal out of Clintonville.
^^ yes they need more things right by or even right on the river
HERE’S AN EASY SOLUTION…WE NEED BOUQUINISTES ALONG THE SCIOTO RIVER!January 22, 2016 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm in reply to: Five-Story Mixed-Use Apartment Building Proposed at High & North Broadway #1111824
Zoning doesn’t require CAC approval.
There lies the problem….Projects along the stretch of high street needs to ALWAYS go through the public process OR the zoning needs to be addressed to eliminate the suburban style developments in these older neighborhoods.January 21, 2016 6:35 pm at 6:35 pm in reply to: Five-Story Mixed-Use Apartment Building Proposed at High & North Broadway #1111661
Yes, as far as I know, the project is dead. A select few Clintonville resident’s put up enough stink that there was little chance of getting through CAC.
And another eyesore on the main corridor of our city remains…
Back on topic: Does anyone have an opinion on the design of the new terminal?
I always thought it would be nice if the terminal design related to the local architecture. All airports seem to be futuristic…it would be really interesting to see a terminal that mimics an old industrial warehouse or some other typical midwestern structure.
I hope the proposals take into account more than just this single property. For example, a small pocket park surrounded by development could help this area.

Talk about ironic timing…May 20, 2015 7:15 am at 7:15 am in reply to: Five-Story Mixed-Use Apartment Building Proposed at High & North Broadway #1076898
They should absolutely make sure the materials are of good quality. No plastic horror-show Highpoint-like crap.
Judging by their previous work on Grandview Ave, it will be a plastic and stucco horror show:

Yikes, that cornice (where the signs are located) is WAY out of scale. I’m nervous this is going to be crappy materials and design. I hope it’s conditionally approved with some architectural tweaks.
This reminds me of the poor mans version of the mixed use building in Bexley on Main Street.
With the amount of new development going in downtown, I think it’s time to revisit the downtown zoning regulations to restrict allowable amount of first floor space dedicated towards parking. I think the market will soon dictate that more retail is needed, but some revised zoning laws will also help detract from valuable street frontage from being taken over by concrete walls and exhaust grills.

Not only that, but at that location, plenty of people will be taking public transportation, walking or biking to work and not even using the garage. I think a great question is whether they will be able to secure a CoGo station nearby.
FYI…there is already a CoGo station right across the street between the Commons and the Parking Garage.April 5, 2015 8:08 am at 8:08 am in reply to: Five-Story Mixed-Use Apartment Building Proposed at High & North Broadway #1070418
Wow, I didn’t realize they are planning on building around the dilapidated Clintonville electric building. I guess the owner of that building is refusing to sell his eyesore. Jokes going to be on him if this goes forward because no one will ever purchase his property at any significant value for such a small plot of land.April 4, 2015 6:55 am at 6:55 am in reply to: 6-story Mixed-Use Building Proposed for 7th/High (Dollar Tree) #1070348
Very nice. Will be good to see this area developed finally.
