I agree – we are some distance from the craft beer bubble bursting. If we see a lot of breweries come in the size of what North High, CBC, and Four String are aiming for then there may be a speed bump but with most breweries following a small neighborhood model like Lineage, Pigskin and etc. – we should be good for some time. My count has 40 craft breweries in Central Ohio by the end of this year. Portland, which is smaller than Columbus supports about 60 and continues to grow. Platform is a good addition to the community.

    Re: http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/business/2016/04/29/1-columbus-brewing-brewery-wants-restaurant-of-same-name-to-drop-it.html

Columbus Brewing Company has been busy with a lot over the last 18 months – moving to a new site, ramping up production, changing their logo and branding, and more, and now the a focus is on confusion regarding the use of Columbus Brewing Company as a name.

On a very positive note – there was a Columbus Brewing Co bar at the airport that was not affiliated with the Restaurant or the Brewery which is no longer has that name – it was the source of many, many bad Yelp reviews to the dismay of both the Brewery and the Restaurant.

A key point tucked into this article is that the Restaurant was required to use the Columbus Brewing Co. name when it started in 1997. That is something the current restaurant owner and the current brewery owner both inherited when they bought their respective businesses. Considering how much money the Brewery has spent on growing in the last year, they may not have enough money to offer to the restaurant to help solve the problem. As a small business – they can appreciate how much signage, web site design, webs site redirection and about a 20 year association with a name is worth / costs a business to change. The movement of the brewery away from the site is helpful and the fact that the new brewery logo and branding (which look great) looks very different that what the Restaurant has (signage, etc., is mostly from 15+ years ago). Internally the restaurant has changed their logo on glasses, shorts, etc to CBC Restaurant over a year ago vs. Columbus Brewing Company Restaurant. To solve this problem and in good faith, I think the brewery will need to fork some funds (or increase their offer if they made one) to help the restaurant make these changes. This situation can be resolved but if the brewery has not offered compensation to make the needed changes, they can’t fault the decision not to jump to take those actions – it is a lot of money to invest.

I agree a meet up (flash eating mob) would not change the long term viability of the business but it would add a short term influx of cash – which could help with menu consistency, maybe getting a decent sign which would display her hours and potentially help her get set up on square of something.

She now lives in the area, so it does help her expense wish to be able to walk to work.

I have eaten there a few times this year. Still good – maybe not quite where it was a few years ago but still one of the better of the taco trucks.

    I say Meh.

Here is a link which has some of the quotes in context as well as his tone of voice when he said them. Maybe he should travel with a guy to do rim shots after each poorly chosen jab….bada – bing!

Off color and poorly chosen, probably. Slander of malicious intent….no.

I think the gentleman from the Catholic Organization interviewed in the story who said that said people needed to lighten up, was on target.

That being said, Gee, made way too much money and was held on too high of standing. I am surprised the Columbus Oligarchy of Evil that brought him back didn’t send a black ops team to get his audio and video tapes to protect their cheerleader. He will be missed.

I had a lot of respect for Bob Dole back in the day, still do, I did not agree with his party but for the most part be played fair. And he was willing to work with the other party.

The story of Dole and Daniel Inouye is one the current party could learn from – it also dates back to a day where politicians had a first hand understanding of the horrors of war and hopefully a hesitation about sending someone else’s child to war.

I think a major error the Republic Party made in the last decade was not placing Elizabeth Dole on the presidential ticket. Sarah Palin is and was a joke….there are better people on their ranks.

Both parties suck, but the Republican Party is still placing their bets on issues and politics of the 20th Century. The USA has changed and will continue to do so.
