The tax abatements are ridiculous. Period. The short north is well on its way to be an exclusive high income area. Welfare for developers dressed as help for poor people. Thanks fake progressives.

If CCS Pta groups have to buy basic supplies isn’t that a sign that the schools are not being administered effectively? It’s great that people are engaged…. But maybe folks should be protesting for the district to stop the fraud, waste and games.

Defending tax abatements by saying how great the school PTAs are doing at raising money for basic supplies is kinda making the counter argument.

To be willfully ignorant is to support Hillary.

I almost felt bad for Kasich. For a moment, and with special emphasis on almost.

Really, as governor, he’s done more and in so many ways to damage and dampen my hopes and dreams for this state, and for the quality of life for those of us in it, than any other Ohio politician to come along during my lifetime that I can think of. IMHO, it serves him right that he gets to see own lofty dreams and ambitions completely shattered and broken to pieces before his own eyes, and by someone who couldn’t even give a damn that he had them in the first place. The jerk hiding behind the “Mr. Nice Guy” mask got trumped (pun intended) by someone who soundly outclassed and beat him at his own game.

Ooh, yeah, that’s gotta burn. And it’s going to eat at Kasich for quite a while, I’m sure.

Yeah Kasich ruined my dreams. He stole all hope for ohios future. literally caused everything bad ever imagined to almost happen. Who would have imagined we would be killing poor people for food and rounding up folks into camps based on race and sexuality when we elected him.

So at 4 different houses people were executed nearly simultaneous…. I bet the police are worried. The more that comes out the more this doesn’t look like a robbery. ( figure if they had 3 big grows there could be hundreds of thousands of cash somewhere there)
It looks like something more like a message /score settling.
Hopefully this is not a sign of creeping violent business from the south west in the mold of no country for old men.

A 15 dollar minimum wage certainly will lower already dangerously low teenage employement. So great we can have a work force of young people even more unemployable and clueless about employement norms than already.

If you are over 30 years old and only qualified for minimum wage jobs perhaps your the problem and not greedy business people.

ADA handicap requirements are a big cost. Wheel chair ramps and redesigned bathrooms can add 10s of thousands of dollars to the cost of opening a new business, particularly in an older building.

    It goes away.

But don’t they have these arguments every time there’s a minimum wage increase? And don’t employment levels eventually get back to the same 4-5% unemployment every time? $15 is a lot but maybe some raise is in order? Maybe if they had been raising a little bit every few years all along, then we would never have gotten to this $15 benchmark?

I think it’s a valid point. Why have there not been more incremental attempts? And now at the end of another pointless 8 year term there is a movement to raise to 15. So the asshats didn’t care for 8 years…. Only when it becomes a way to drive voters to the poll.

I feel like I’m listening to an argument about business between an Etsy entrepreneur and a EBay store proprietor.

Ever own a business with over 10 employees?

Ever own a business about to go past 50?

Do you know what the Ohio CAT tax is?
Why is the response to saying regulation is a problem effecting job creation a freak out saying position is advocating returning us to sweat shops?

What happens to a job that costs 15 dollars an hour due to regulation that doesn’t cover its cost with revenue?

    It goes away.

I would say that the area has gotten a lot busier in recent years. Demonstratably. I love how people attack someone who lives somewhere for expressing concern about the traffic flow of bar patrons around their house. It makes you look like a dick. Well it’s the previous posters neighborhood not the fetish urbanistas that want to dismiss an actual residents comments. And if your pissed that your neighborhood isn’t hip/busy enough get off your butt and get a better job to buy out the home owners that are exhausted with your drunk eating out every night taking up parking visiting carpetbagger noisy selfs.

walker not everyone that buys a house has the dream that one day their neighborhood becomes a bar parking lot and they are unable to have guest due to lack of parking.
    Maybe just you. Judge away.

It is funny that the urban fetish folks don’t realize that they may be celebrating a near mirror image of the flight to the shiny new suburbs of the past. “everything done before me is crap, everything done by me is righteous”

Or they don’t give a damn.

one in the same. You have to be able to see at least a little of the big picture to give a damn.

And….. Educated white people flocking to the city centers are really not the enlightened creatures the pop culture tells them they are. Just a bunch of assholes just like their parents that moved to the suburbs and trashed the city dwellers.
    Rinse repeat.

how about we tax the upper earners more and redistribute the savings…..CEO’s and those making more than 200K should take pay cuts to help lower wage earners.

You can not beat poverty through wage redistribution. What you want is retribution. you want to punish a segment of society. A large portion of this country already pays no tax on their wages, they in fact receive money. That really hasn’t helped social mobility has it.
