The list of contenders for best slice of pizza pie: Granddad’s, Z-Pizza, Halwani’s, Dewey’s Pizza, Mama Mimi’s & Bono’s. Vote for your favorite! http://www.fifthbynorthwest.org
All/One Bag Travel:
I hope it isn’t raining too! Nope, just one vote for the best ‘za – overall :). Oh, and if you want to check out the band that will be there, their Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/groovydave – check it out!
Should be fun rain or shine! Just to hang out at the Ohio Taproom – if nothing else (if too rainy)… and listen to the band! :)
Becky Obester, Chairperson 5XNW
The Groovy Dwayne band will be joining us for the evening!
Look for ballot boxes popping up at your local favorite pizza spot – coming soon!
The full list of pizza places participating (so far) is as follows:
1) Ohio Taproom – Ok no pizza, but this is where we are starting
2) Grandad’s – A possibility, right around the corner from the starting location
3) Halwani Pizza – The winner of the last 2 pizza crawls!
4) Z-Pizza – Always a good choice!
5) Dewey’s – Lots of fun last year!
6) Bono Pizza – A new contender and a C-Bus favorite for years!
7) Mama Mimi’s – Worth the hike! Had a great turnout at this typically “take and bake” spot last year!
Should be a fun event! Lots of great contenders!… Vote for you favorite! Walk the neighborhood! Get to meet lots of local friends & neighbors!August 11, 2015 10:12 pm at 10:12 pm in reply to: Open House – 5XNW Third Ave. Railroad Underpass & Road Improvements #1088694
Tomorrow is the day!
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Should be a great event!
Try to park on the street & save the “up close” parking for the vendors, the First Responders (we have a fire truck coming) and the other church group that will be there that night!July 27, 2015 10:13 pm at 10:13 pm in reply to: The View on Fifth – New Mixed-Use Development in 5xNW #1086814
FYI – we just met with the City to emphasize traffic planning & mobility options in our area! More to come on this… :)July 27, 2015 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm in reply to: The View on Fifth – New Mixed-Use Development in 5xNW #1086812
The 5XNW Area Commission NOW meets at St. Luke’s UMC, 1150 W. Fifth Avenue Columbus, OH 43212 – the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm – in lieu of the previous’ poster’s former meeting place/address for us. We have been meeting at this new location since 2013 since we were awarded “Neighborhood Pride” by the Mayor and his department heads :) We were always seeking a meeting spot that was IN our area and convenient to the the volunteers and City Liaisons that assist us with zoning, trees, traffic planning, green space, etc. but were always challenged by the lack of community space in the past – but finally were able to successful move to a new location within our boundaries (not that we aren’t grateful for the years that our previous address hosted us).
As posted on this site/message board, we USUALLY meet the first Tuesday of every month at this location in the Community Meeting Space at 1150 W. Fifth Avenue (next to where Cord Camera used to be – soon to be an auto parts store), BUT we are joining Clintonville and numerous other neighborhoods in Columbus and across the nation in celebrating National Night Out (NNO) on that night… as we are proud of the community spirit, neighborhood safety (some of the lowest crime rates in the City of Columbus), neighborliness, and “local flavor” of our neighborhood!
We will be hosting for 5XNW NNO:
– A neighborhood bike ride with YahBikes! Highlighting some of our community partnerships & locally owned restaurants as well as green space development that is underway (with speakers to talk about the details at the event)
– Local entertainment, food truck(s), performers, band(s), farmer’s market vendors and more!
Hope you can join us for National Night Out, the first Tuesday of August – 630 – 830 at our meeting location (of two+ years), 1150 W. Fifth Avenue – St. Luke’s UMC inside & outside of the church! Rain or shine! http://www.fifthbynorthwest.org
Bike Tour Route with YayBikes! is set!
We are highlighting two(2) green spaces (parks) under development – and one of the project sponsors (food!) Press Grill as we ride around the neighborhood!
Initial surveys of the area rated green space as the #1 “ask” so we’ve always tried to incorporate this aspect into all of our developments which have fallen under zoning review – but these are the first two opportunities we’ve had to have dedicated green space (not metro parks) underway!
Here more about the details at our National Night Out event – starting at 630pm with local speakers highlighting the green space – followed by the YayBikes! tour of 5XNW starting at 730p – out in front of the church! Meet us at 1150 W. Fifth Ave. inside or out!
Other additions include:
-WOSU (possibly) – Reviewing their Tri-Village Columbus Neighborhoods segment
-Stinziano & Rush – Running for Columbus City Council
-Habeebas – Performance
-YayBikes! – Tour of 5XNW green-space in development + Press Grill
-Press Grill samples
-Love Bug food truck
-Ugly Dog Treats
-Coe’s Cozy Kitchen People Treats
-The Recycling Band & Friends of the Olentangy/Scioto River
Looks like the Recycling Band & the Friends of the Olentangy are in!
Join us for our “Grandview North of Third” The Fifth by Northwest Area Commission meeting this evening at 1150 W. Fifth Ave. @ St. Luke’s UMC on Fifth – 7pm tonight 7/7/15. Hope to see you either tonight 7/7 or a month from now on 8/4 – the first Tues. of the month at 1150 W. Fifth Ave.

P.S. We are in the process of organizing the First Responder component of the event – just got off the phone with the Columbus City Fire Chief!
The event details are coming together we have a local artist, two bakers (one for pets and one for people), a food truck, possibly the Press Grill, a developer who is putting in a green space and other neighborhood improvements, maybe some recycling folks, a dance troupe, possibly a bank/credit union – and more coming! We are talking to Yahbikes! about a neighborhood bike ride… all local and part of the fabric of what makes 5XNW a truly vibrant, diverse, growing, and dynamic neighborhood to live in! Should be a great event… more details to come! Bring yourselves, your neighbors, mark your calendars for Tuesday August 4th from 630-830pm at St. Luke’s UMC, 1150 W. Fifth Avenue – inside & out! Look for the signs lining W. Fifth Avenue leading up to the event… get a window cling that has the 5XNW logo & more… lots of fun activities that night celebrating what a safe, accessible, and neighborly area of Columbus it is!
They (Press Grill) are going to do a different menu and design for their restaurant in 5XNW than their place in the Short North.
