Opponents of the rezoning of the Upper Arlington Municipal Service Center to allow commercial development on 1.3-acre tract at Kenny and Tremont roads won a victory when the UA Board of Zoning and Planning unanimously voted down the city administration’s proposal Monday night.

Sort of puzzling. Why would the residents care about this project? It’s not really near any residential, and the traffic from the Urology offices would only be during the daytime hours.

I think it has to do with the fact that the city wanted to re-zone the entire parcel which also includes a park-land buffer between the residential condos and the municipal center. The proposed development site is the triangle-shaped parcel at the northern tip of the site.

Fairly typical knee jerk reaction to any non-residential development in UA.

    By Kevin Landers
    Friday October 10, 2014 6:01 PM

Upper Arlinton, OH – Upper Arlington could join Columbus and raise income tax to 2.5%. “A lot of our streets, curbs and sewer lines are in a state of disrepair”. The line comes from a YouTube video produced by the Citizens for Upper Arlington’s Future which paints a bleak picture of the city’s infrastructure.

Upper Arlington Challenged With Finding Space For Future Population
    By Kevin Landers
    Wednesday July 8, 2015 6:00 PM

Because Upper Arlington’s boundaries prevent it from growing out, it may have to grow up to handle these new homeowners. One idea is to turn Macy’s into a Kroger store and build apartments on top of the store.

This is a desperate attempt by a few residents that don’t want to see their country club-style tennis courts relocated in the Northam Park master plan.

Yep. Overheard eye doc who lives in bexley bitching about the tennis courts being moved. I noticed that Ua was throwing out metrics on the percent of citizens utilizing the courts..,. Super low! Average tennis fan income is in the 200g range.f-them. Have a friend by the park. He wants the pool fixed that caved in and curb cuts to get into park with baby stroller. Simple stuff.

    October 5, 2015 9:50 am – Brent Warren

The new proposal, from MGJ Ventures, calls for eight high-end apartments above 5,500 square feet of retail and restaurant space. I just saw that Bean Architects designed this one. I’ve been seeing their name pop up around Columbus a lot lately regarding several cool projects.
