Chris SunamiParticipantSo, things are looking pretty good for Kasich right now. I’m thinking the only chance of getting him out of office is a major scandal –which is probably unlikely since he seems to have somehow made investigating him and all his usages of public money illegal.
I can’t actually hope for things to go downhill on his watch just for spite, but it’s lousy that he’s getting credit for a recovery that he had nothing to do with.

dirtgirlParticipantNew poll on Kasich out today from Public Policy Polling showing some weakening for Kasich. Approve 42 / Disapprove 47 and loses to Democrat Ed FitzGerald 38-35. More good news for FitzGerald: 62 percent of Ohioans don’t know him.

If JobsOhio ever gets more attention and blows up into a huge scandal, it will not only derail Kasich’s re-election hopes but maybe even land him in court for corruption. Governors fortunately don’t seem to be as protected in this regard as Presidents and Vice Presidents do (i.e. Dick Cheney).
FitzGerald seems like yet another weak candidate put up by the Ohio Dems when they should have been recruiting one of their most successful big city mayors in Mike Coleman. But the lack of statewide awareness about who he is could work to his advantage if Kasich has to spend more time and money on protecting his own image.

SchoolboyParticipantDid I miss something with JobsOhio? Wasn’t sure how it would go into “scandal” category. Not saying it couldn’t, just not in the loop.
Thing is, Kasich’s “controversial” stances in my opinion will greatly help him. Not really with the core team R voters, but who cares. Team R is going to vote Team R no matter what. Not as if they’ll ever vote D. Ohio is growing into a very large independant state, and if he wants to keep his job he needs to respect that. Which outside of a couple of early missteps, and a mediocre job of sticking it to the frackers, I think he’s done quite well at doing.
