Get a telescope for Christmas? Have one around you don’t really use because, well, it was too darn hard to figure out? How do you find stuff you can’t see, anyway?
Local astronerd/telegeek Duke Skygawker will be conducting an entry-level telescope operation workshop Saturday afternoon, March 8 @ 1:30pm, Brothers Drake Meadery (inside!).
BRING YOUR SCOPE(S)! Bring your accessories (eyepieces, barlows, finders, charts) if you have them. Whether it’s computerized, motorized, manual operation, reflector, refractor, catadioptric (combo), alt-az mount, equatorial mount, dobsonian mount, or you don’t even know what it is, it doesn’t matter.
This event is NOT invitation-only… it’s open to the public, but space is limited, so sign up if you want in! If you know someone who’d be interested, be sure to pass it along! If you want to make sure you get a spot, message Duke Skygawker here on Facebook, or email him at [email protected], or say you’re coming here on the event page.
The workshop is FREE. If you wish, you can buy him an excellent glass of Brothers Drake mead.
The best telescope? It’s the one that gets used! And even if you’re in the middle of the city, Duke’s spent a lot of time showing folks how much fun, and how easy, it can be to take a look at the skies.
