Has anyone else gotten some odd flyers about Andy Ginther and tax abatements? First, they seem to be from an anti-tax group that is complaining about tax breaks. Second, they make some odd claims that Columbus has some of the highest property tax rates in the country. That can’t be true because I live in Columbus and everyone is always amazed at how low my property tax is compared to their suburban rates.April 10, 2015 8:44 am at 8:44 am #1071187
It’s lies from the Koch Brothers.April 10, 2015 1:54 pm at 1:54 pm #1071251
So, apparently they over estimated our tax rate by a factor of 71% ??
From the article you linked:
“The capital city’s economists calculated that Columbus homeowners pay a property-tax rate of 3.57 percent of their home value each year. The Franklin County Auditor’s office disputed that calculation and helped The Dispatch determine that the correct rate is 2.08 percent for a homeowner in the Columbus school district.”April 10, 2015 2:54 pm at 2:54 pm #1071265
Yes, the Koch Brothers have a bad relationship with the truth.April 10, 2015 8:18 pm at 8:18 pm #1071350
Just like the zoo tax issue last year, this is an effort to build their base of ‘on the ground’ resources. They could give a shit less who the mayor is, but with this they can vet out a strong team of activists for bigger issues.
