Congrats to Stewart Elementary and Columbus City Schools: Stewart’s renovated building achieves LEED Silver status for its use of green building techniques and plans in the renovation. Amazing to see the oldest still-operating school in Columbus be on the cutting edge of sustainability.

On a new build, LEED certification is nice but barely noteworthy. Getting the same certification on the restoration of a 142 year brick building is damned impressive.

Also impressive, though in an entirely different way, is that Columbus City School’s new 3-8 for Gifted and Talented Students is housed at Beck Elementary just around the corner. It was built around the same time and with the exception of an add on years ago, seems to be pretty much the same building.
