Take a tip from the bronze animal sculptures at the zoo, and install a big bronze half-immersed Quillback Carpsucker, which is native to the downtown river pool right there. Kids could climb around on it.January 17, 2012 5:53 pm at 5:53 pm #440856
There are kind of a lot of bronze carp sculptures there already – we might have that covered.January 17, 2012 6:39 pm at 6:39 pm #440857
How about a giant shopping cart?January 17, 2012 7:04 pm at 7:04 pm #440858
Unfortunately, no matter what design is proposed, there will always be “It looks like a ___”January 17, 2012 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #440859
How about a giant shopping cart?
With Victoria Secret on it? :pJanuary 17, 2012 9:34 pm at 9:34 pm #440860
I like the 3 sails thing, I just hope it’s tall enough to see it from all the tree’s going by the city.January 18, 2012 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #440861January 18, 2012 9:25 pm at 9:25 pm #440862January 18, 2012 9:35 pm at 9:35 pm #440863
The latest version of the tower looks too much like the work of the sculptor Rita McBride.January 18, 2012 10:04 pm at 10:04 pm #440864
Wow, nice dig! That certainly looks much more appealing (visually) than the proposed sculpture for the Scioto Mile. It’s simple and doesn’t resemble a damn cooling tower. I’m a little disappointed on how the space inside the sculpture was treated…seems like it could have been much more interesting than an unpaved pile of dirt (maybe it’s just not done yet).January 18, 2012 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm #440865
What City is that sculpture in?January 18, 2012 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm #440866
What City is that sculpture in?
It has to be Europe. Notice the nice boulevard between the highway lanes. Americans prefer their raw concrete median barricades, slightly cracked, aged, and decorated with reflectors :)January 18, 2012 10:51 pm at 10:51 pm #440867January 19, 2012 12:48 am at 12:48 am #440868
I actually really like that design. Leave it to Europe to do the nuclear tower right. I would hate for the artist to replicate but in this case, I’d be happy with pretty much the same design and scale, only add an interactive feature and lights for night.January 19, 2012 1:34 am at 1:34 am #440869
I remember this from some survey course I took. Pretty cool.
It will be great to have more public art in Columbus.
