Rumor : Woof’s bar to close

I’ve been to Woof’s once.

Seemed like an okay bar, but for some reason there was angry male solo masterbation porn on all of the plasmas, which made me uncomfortable. I mean why were they so angry about beating off?

Good riddance to it. Expensive, poorly managed, and doesn’t support the community in comparison to other establishments – its like the 4th business this guy has run into the ground – including “An Open Book”. That and I’ve always found showing porn in a bar to be in bad taste anyways – way to reinforce a stereotype.

Sucks that we don’t have a real bear bar tho – we’ve got the community to support it. – although, I think the ship may have sailed on the whole “self segregating gay” thing. So, maybe itsa good thing.

Yeah, I think the era of gay bars is almost over, especially in cities like Columbus. If the original point of gay bars was to provide a safe haven for homosexuals who felt unwelcome everywhere else, then that purpose has slowly faded away as our society continues to grow more tolerant (mostly). I feel like the vast majority of places (bars, restaurants, stores, etc) I hang out would proudly label themselves as gay-friendly businesses.

I don’t know, I always kind of thought “gay bars” were primarily taking the confusion out of the bar scene if you’re gay…like if you saw a cute guy at a gay bar, you’d feel pretty comfortable making a move. Personally, I was always a little jealous there weren’t “hetero bars”, but I have a feeling it’d be more dudes than any gay bar would hope for.

Bingo. Gay bars may not be necessary for their original purpose of sheltering us from the unfriendly. However it is nice to go to a club and be able to dance/grind/etc without the worry of pissing off a hetero. Unless that (irritible) hetero ends up in the gay bar, which seems to be happening more and more.
