I hate the name SoHud, so I blogged about it.

Rethinking SoHud: The Case for Getting it Right

That’s what blogs are for, right?

I’m not a big fan of “SoHud” but I don’t have a better idea.

Come to think of it, there’s few of these silly neighborhood names that I actually do like. Maybe 1 out of every 10 seem worth keeping. ;)

Like I said in the blog post, the right answer is SoHu (pronounced so who). It was the right answer then and it’s the right answer now.

Really, do people think that somehow more letters are better? (Should I add an extra “f” to my name?)

Are there people who think the “ud” syllable sounds attractive?

Has anyone bothered to actually say SoHud out loud? It sounds awful!

And So who doesn’t sound a little pretentious? Sohu….Sohu….Sohu..
    Nope. Not loving it.

Sohud. Sounds right. South of Hudson. Makes sense. Sohu? So what?

Maybe something a little more creative?

I live in SoHud and while i don’t think its the best name ever, I would feel stupid telling anyone that I live in SoHu. And who wants to make it sound closer to ripping off of some other neighborhood?

Seriously? Do you think the “d” is fooling people?

“Oh no, it’s not a rip-off of SoHo. See, ours has a “d” a the end.”

…and it’s not really a matter of making it something else. As far as I can tell the neighborhood has been referred to as SoHu long before people started calling it SoHud.

Now I’ve got somebody on Twitter telling me I live in Old North Columbus, so maybe it doesn’t matter.

If that’s true I’ll just need some clarification on whether it’s Old North Columbus or Olde Northe Columbus.
