I pulled the 1921 map a little earlier, but I didn’t post it. it wasn’t quite as interesting because the map ended at main street, and the subject building was in the corner of the map. I’ll see if I can pull the link again.
this stuff is awesome for building history. I love the fact that I can bracket the building date of my own house between 1887 and 1891… my house isn’t on the ’87 maps, but appears on the ’91 maps, but doesn’t have the frame addition (kitchen) in back. It’s cool.August 12, 2009 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #293759
5th and Main, 1891. NW corner is two stores. SW corner across the street is a saloon and boarding house.

west side, 5th and Main, 1901. the cool thing is looking at Fourth and Rich… you can see the location of the Central Market.
There is a picture of it here:

While we’re on building history, the old Brownstone used to be a brothel. For true.August 13, 2009 1:32 am at 1:32 am #293762
Thanks for sharing!
Those maps are pretty awesome. Confirms what we’ve always thought about current building, at least three different construction dates
Although i never knew that the address changed! That was weird if I’m reading the oldest map right.August 21, 2009 6:20 am at 6:20 am #293763
I took this photo last week at 4th and Main, just above Graham’s Office Supply, by Dirty Frank’s.
Figured you may appreciate it, Walker.August 21, 2009 10:12 pm at 10:12 pm #293764
Ha! Looks like they’re slipping a noose around the Road Runner’s neck. ;)
Must be a WOW employee manning the crane!
