Ran across a proposed apartment building on lane ave here –
The proposed building will be located just east of Tommy’s Pizza at Lane and Neil, replacing both of the 70’s era existing apartment buildings. Here are couple of details from the PDF:
* 5 Story Structure (first floor parking, 4 floors above), average height of 60′
* Will have 40 units (112 beds)
* Will be urban in design, zero setback from Lane Ave (11 ft from Lane Ave)
Also note that on page 12 of the PDF above, a second building on Norwich is pictured. I can’t locate any information about this other building.March 15, 2012 9:37 pm at 9:37 pm #487215
There seem to be a lot of student apartments being built (the High St project comes to mind) or renovated (Weinland Park’s growing student rentals) yet I believe OSU still plans to move sophmores to the dorms on campus.April 16, 2012 11:42 pm at 11:42 pm #487216
Edwards Pushes for Urban Density with New Apartment Developments
On Lane Avenue, Edwards is planning a new five-story development that would be home to 40 apartments containing 112 beds and podium-style parking below the units. The project has faced opposition by the University Area Commission for not providing enough parking spaces for the building’s residents. The original plans call for a ratio of 0.6 parking spaces per bed, providing parking spots for 60% of the tenants.

Edwards apartment project on Norwich appears to be moving forward with demolition,
4. 236-242-248-262 Norwich Avenue –
Demolition applications were filed for these four properties on 6/5/13. This is for the Edwards Development Company’s proposed new multi-unit housing project that borders Tuttle Park. The waiting period for these demolitions ends on 8/5/13. The committee briefly discussed the project and noted that an appeal that was filed against the project was denied, and the demolition will proceed as scheduled. No approval from the UAC was requested, and none is required. The committee agreed that no further comment on the proposed project is needed.September 25, 2014 6:42 pm at 6:42 pm #1043396
The Lane Ave project was resubmitted to the city this month. The proposal is for a four-story 45-unit building. Parking and leasing office would be on the ground floor, with apartments above.September 25, 2014 11:07 pm at 11:07 pm #1043411
Like the first rendering much better. Looks more classical compared to the second which looks like it belongs in the suburbs.September 26, 2014 1:22 am at 1:22 am #1043412
This is much more what I’d like to see on W. Lane and what rendition #1 seems to provide
My cousin lived here when she went to UT and they were great and very dense.September 26, 2014 4:01 am at 4:01 am #1043413

The second rendering is Edwards’ Norwich Flats development. I don’t think there are any new renderings of the Lane Ave project yet, the application contained only a site plan.December 13, 2014 11:28 am at 11:28 am #1054663

Definitely not cutting edge design… Doesn’t look that much better than what it’s replacing. Hello 60’s Soviet bloc housing.February 15, 2016 1:21 pm at 1:21 pm #1114627
This building has “topped out,” windows are in and I assume once the weather breaks this week exterior work will begin.
