    President Barack Obama wins re-election

    President Barack Obama has been re-elected to a second term, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney. With results in from most states, America’s first black president has secured the 270 votes in the electoral college needed to win the race. Mr Obama prevailed despite lingering dissatisfaction with the economy and a well-funded challenge by Mr Romney.

    The euphoria of Barack Obama’s supporters on election night four years ago was replaced Tuesday by relief, as the incumbent president won a second term over Republican Mitt Romney in an effort powered more by organization than by ideas.

    Me? Oh hell no. But now that the Republican top governance priority of making Obama a one-term President has failed, maybe their “compromise means we win” attitude will recognize a wake-up call, and they’ll turn their efforts toward cooperative leadership.
