CMHflyerParticipantPort Columbus saw a slight increase in passenger traffic during 2010:
From The Dispatch:
Port Columbus activity up slightly in 2010

The Columbus DispatchPort Columbus was slightly busier last year than the year before, with 2 percent more passengers. A total of 6.36 million passengers used the airport last year, compared to 6.23 million in 2009, but the increase failed to bring totals back to pre-recession levels.
The local increase mirrors the national trend toward a slow rise in passenger traffic.

Hopefully the positive passenger traffic trend continues at CMH through 2011. New scheduled service slated to start this year so far include new weekly service by Delta and AirTran/Apple Vacations to Cancun and new daily nonstop service on Southwest to Denver.
In addition, hopefully Rickenbacker can reverse the cargo totals trend and bring in some more freight flights to increase cargo traffic.

CMHflyerParticipantAlso new to the Columbus Regional Airport Authority…an updated website! The new supersite is a significant improvement over the old homepage for the airports, especially the expanded Rickenbacker website.

tlb919ParticipantThe new websites are Nice!
Are they still starting construction on the new Terminal soon? I remember reading it was supposed to start sometime this year or early 2012 but all development has been removed from the new site.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCHMaybe it’s the effect of the crowded planes or the security pat-downs, but people are drinking more when they fly. While passenger numbers at Port Columbus inched up 2 percent last year, alcohol sales during the fourth quarter at airport restaurants rose nearly 13 percent. In contrast, food sales were up a more modest 7 percent.

Two destinations CMH could use and zero direct competition.
They are doubling and perhaps trippling their fleet in the next few years, the cities that are aggressive will land them.
