WickhamMemberHere is a link to a new group formed to help support a solution for the Nationwide Arena and CBJ lease problems. No matter which side you fall on I think we can all agree losing 42 games a year in the district will be detrimental to the district and downtown.

ccMemberOther then the vague ‘keep the bluejackets in the Arena District’ can you summarize what this petition is for? Is it for taxpayers to pay for the Blue Jackets, buy the Arena, put the stakeholders in a steel cage and fight it out etc….

Granted I seem to be out of the bluejacket loop..
But what is the petition for? I read it and it basically says we resolve to find a solution to financial problems.January 26, 2010 4:29 pm at 4:29 pm #339800
WickhamMemberI honestly just stumbled upon the site and petition myself. What I took from it is that they just want to show the parties involved that there are people in Columbus who want a solution found that will keep the team in Columbus. Sorry I can’t provide any further information.

Sorry I can’t provide any further information. That’s sort of what I gathered, so I signed it.

amsoellParticipantI guess I’m confused, out of the loop, or both. Is moving the Blue Jackets something that’s being actively discussed? I’m not going to sign a petition just because I agree that the Arena District is a nice space and we want to keep it, even though nobody is talking seriously about moving the team.

ccMemberI think it is mostly posturing due to ill concieved contracts but the NHL imho has over expanded.

JohnRClemParticipantThey should have listed to Lamar Hunt in the beginning and renegotiated with Nationwide before the arena was built; Hunt knew then the team wouldn’t be sustainable with that deal. They put themselves in this hole. The NHL overpaying it’s players doesn’t help either.

greenhouse1014ParticipantI think, rather than having people sign a petition, the more effective way to keep the CBJ in the arena would have been for people to buy tickets and go to the game. A petition with 1,000 signatures means little when 1,000 people buying tickets would mean people putting their money where their signature is.

Franklin County.”you wouldn’t have to sweat over a crappy hockey team moving, with a casino down the street.

ccMemberMaybe they should turn the Arena into a close to downtown mall.
I wounder how much it will cost the city to tear it down…

TenzoParticipantHas anyone been to a Blue Jackets game?
How full are they?I know I can always get $10 student tickets 1 hour to game time, so they dont ever seem to be sold out. They also have a $25 deal which includes food and drink.
CU outing? We should have enough students on here to gather up tickets.

The new team buzz seems to have worn off and the attendance looks like it has settled into the 14.5-16.5K average range. Is that good for NHL? -
