Second Sight (Second Site) Studio, in cooperation with the Bellows School’s property owner, will be presenting Hearts United for one Billion Rising. We will be inviting any interested participants to create large-scale heart-shaped art that can be displayed en masse in a field of hearts at Bellows End, Franklinton. The one-acre field of hearts can then be viewed from the second-story windows of Second Sight Studio.

Taking place on February 14th, 2014. Watch for details on how to participate in the next two weeks! Or if you are part of an organization or company that would like to be involved, please contact [email protected].

Update: Skreened Ltd. is donating a large quantity of cardboard on which to create the heart art! Thank you, Skreened, for the local love! Any donors interested in contributing paint or other supplies or facilities for creating, we’re looking forward to hearing from you! More details forthcoming.

For those not familiar with One Billion Rising, it is an international movement, on “V-day,” that draws attention to violence against women in order to effect positive change. “V-day” celebrations around the world will include dancing as a way to rise up against gender aggression. Expect dancing at Bellows End on February 14th!

CALL TO ARTISTS is now posted on the website, please follow the links for full details. This is an OPEN participation public art event. All groups and individuals are welcome to create and show as part of the combined field of hearts.

Happy new year, and we look forward to having you as part of this creative communion!
