I think the west side is changing. With the Casino and the Cooper Park Complex, it seems to be where everyone’s eye is focused.
Cooper Park is a pretty highend development. Check it out http://www.cooperparkcomplex.com

We can only hope everything goes through as planned for all of these projects (although one is very near and dear to my heart). I’m looking forward to seeing a west side that has the vibrancy of days past that I remember well. Granted, the vibrancy will be very different, but all positive energy is welcome.

Thanks for the kind words, Margo’s has been in the making… one slow step at time for about 10 months but the dream started about 5 years ago.
Hope you will get your tickets starting this Thursday by either contacting me or going to Gearhart Hardware on West Broad Street!

The tickets are printed and ready for purchase. You can call (614)531-0386 or (614)516-3856 or visit Gearheart’s, as stated above. Please think about attending this benefit for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and previewing the menu of Westgate’s newest restaurant.

Just a quick note here… the Columbus Board of Zoning Appeals said YES tonight. It was a 4 to 0/all in favor & had 3 of them thank me for calling Westgate & the Hilltop HOME! Now comes the real hard part…

I am here to tell you I am in the process of installing an upstart restaurant in Upper West Columbus/Westgate Neighborhood. Margo’s will be the the place to be, serving the West Side and anyone in Columbus interested in supporting the vegetable and cattle farms in Central Ohio.

Wow! This thread is about 6 months old and I’ve read the updates, and the Board of Zoning Appeals said YES tonight. I hope you popped a bottle of bubbly tonight because you deserve it.

this IS very exciting. Who are you working with to identify these farms? Are there a particular type of production methods, or is it more important that they are local and will this local aspect play heavily in the marketing? Best of luck, can’t wait to make the trip from the lower west side!

I’m still wondering where I should look for this place? I would like to see the progress the site makes when building and renovating.

ZHC, I am going to keep at it, there is much more work to be done for sure.
Patient_Zero… It’s been a while since I had a drink & when I left the Board of Zoning meeting I really wanted one but didn’t indulge. (Now opening day) on the HILLTOP, not the Franklinton… I hear more than one cork of bubbly popping & I will take a few drinks. The hard part is just beginning but it was worth the wait. Thanks for aknowledging the hard work, I appreciate that.
Parker, yes the fact that Margo’s supports OHIO & OHIO based Whole Food w/no chemicals will be in the advertising. It’s on the business card now and it is intended to be in all media when we are ready to open.
The actual restaurant will be on the corner of Algonquin & West Broad Street (the East Corner) next to Josie’s Pizza.
There will be plenty promo cards available at the Food Bank Event.
I would like to see everyone out there on 03/06/10 at Parkview Methodist, 2-5 PM.
I want to thank everyone for the encouraging words since this journey started, the support has been amazing.

Are there 2 Josie’s Pizza restaurants?

There is a Josie’s Pizza in Franklinton and one on the Hilltop. They are separate entities.

Margo’s will be on the south-east corner of Algonquin and Broad in Westgate. The Hilltop Josie’s is on the south-west corner of the intersection.

What’s so weird? The Josie’s thing?

Yes. Two places with the same name doing the same thing on the same street within a few miles of each other with no connection is kinda weird. Anyway, I didn’t know about this other location and it was odd to specifically say “not Franklinton” and then reference a Franklinton landmark (because I didn’t know there were 2).
