I’m fascinated by arbiters of thread status who’s contribution is to post a gif or video or snark comments.

I’m sorry I’ve distracting you from your heated debate.

you can not address the topic of this thread.

The topic of this thread was an attack that the FBI has unequivocally stated wasn’t organized terrorism and that the attacker wasn’t connected to any groups or organizations.

You are insisting on making this thread about Islamic Terrorism because the guy has “Mohammed” in his name.

I am telling you, the risk of terrorists killing you are MUCH higher from white guys than brown ones…because math.

I’m not all that concerned about either, but if I need to pick one to worry about it will be the one more likely to kill me.

That clear things up for you?

Why was the guy in the data base. ideologues! A five year old can do the math here. Your parsing. So he was not directed by some one. He was not affiliated with anyone. That has nothing to do with his intent and target.
Your the loon that wanted to use this event as an opportunity to pontificate about people that had nothing to do with it.

    Tilting at windmills.

I’m pontificating?!? You’ve turned a single attack by an unstable attacker with no affiliations, an attack ruled NOT organized terrorism by the FBI, and you’ve posted continuously about the problem with Radical Islam in America. Meanwhile, since this thread started, multiple guys without a Middle Eastern Name have gone on killing rampages around the country…Cedric Ford shot 16 people, Jason Dalton shot 8 people, “random white guy” killed 4 people and himself in WA, 15 year old girl named Dorothy killed her classmate and herself in school, Alex Buckner shot and killed 5 people…etc., etc. etc.

The idea that attaching Islam to an attack somehow makes it a much more serious issue than the 250,000 Americans killed by guns held by NOT Middle Easterns in the last decade is, frankly, moronic. Actually, its moronic at best…its bigotry at worst.

so to everyone that has felt a need to trash this guy…He is getting screwed by the city. He is getting screwed by insurance companies. He got attacked because he was from Israel. I would ask for the other people out there that know about how the city treats business people to speak up. Why do they drag their feet on permits. Perhaps a favorite resturantuer daughter of the city would like to chime in here about Being strung out. Alas it won’t happen. There are so many angles of this that are f-Ed up its depressing.

So maybe the usual folks can hop on this and tell me how it’s not terrorism, this guy is just a bitch, white ccw permit holders are the terrorists.

So as folks were calling me a racist on here as I asked questions like was this preventable? Should we be doing something different in regards to the extremist watch lists?
Will he get screwed by insurance company?
    You suck as humans.
I’m glad I’m lucky enough to be retired and free of insurance companies, free of an unpredictable government and free of un-informed inexperienced people negatively affecting my business and employees.

What has happened to this man is beyond sad. And the response of many people is pathetic.

Actually, he’s getting screwed by the federal government IF he has terrorism insurance. The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act states that damage from a terrorism act must exceed a total of $5 million and declared as Terrorism by the Treasury Department. So even if the city declares it terrorism, that does nothing to help him. Even then, he would have to have the extra coverage. If he doesn’t have it to begin with, it’s a moot point. An insurer can’t just pay something because it’s a crappy situation or they feel bad. It all comes down to agents and who sells the policies and making sure you understand the limits of a policy. Agents aren’t the insurance company and in many cases don’t know much about what they sell and most people don’t know to question or even read their policy. Personal and commercial.

And even then, what is the city to do? Tax payer money to help? Send city crews to fix his property? nah. I’m really curious as to what would be defined as the city leader’s “job” in this situation? what was the city supposed to do the day after the attack? Even in the aftermath of the Boston Bombings, the city wasn’t out there taking care of the businesses affected. again, there is no proof that this is more than a hate crime, except that because one man was Muslim and the other Israeli. Come back when you have proof that the FBI doesn’t have that shows the aggressor is a terrorist.

Now, as for the Mayor, sure, it probably would have looked good to have him at the opening or something, but oh well.

She took a break from refining the buffet line at some nowhere Indian casino to shine some light in this tragedy. Cool.

I sympathize with the restaurant owner because of what happened. How could you not? But I don’t know what exactly he expects the city to do and it does not sound like he knows, either.

Crappy things happen to businesses all the time. Is the city supposed to do something every time a business gets robbed? When it closes down because an owner goes broke or gets sick and cannot continue? When it shuts down because of listeria?

The owner mentions the city came to the restaurant when he was remodeling even though he applied for permits. Did he have the permits? Is it enough to simply have applied for them? (I have no idea).

Plus he blames the city for not protecting him against the attack. That’s just childish.

I get that he is extremely and understandably frustrated. But Government is not Santa Claus.

The fbi saying the guy is not connected or directed by a group does not mean he is not a terrorist. That’s a stupid claim.

Obviously based on the comments none of you have had to deal with the building department. So your talking out yo arse. I could bury this thread with examples of businesses expressing despiration with permit problems. But keep on thinking you know all about what businesses face and opine on it.

Insurance companies are not I repeat are not your friend once a claim happens. So is the insurance company claiming its terrorism if so the believe they have firm legal ground to do so.

    Snarf… That’s a funny take on Eliz.

If you read the comments on the original Facebook post, his insurance company is working on the claim and will be paying. Seemed like he lashed out at anyone and everyone with comments that either were not true or were skewed. In fact, in my mind, his post actually raised more questions about his business and how he runs it.
