Central Ohio’s funniest should start preparing their jokes now. A new spin inspired by the nationwide phenomenon, Old Columbus Jews Telling Jokes will be a one night only karaoke-style joke fest at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus.

The January 18 event honors the life and comedy of the late Sam Gordon, a jokester and JCC regular so well-known in the community he even has a table at the E. Broad St. Panera dedicated to him.

Old Columbus Jews Telling Jokes will feature local MC and funny woman, Marcie Golden, who will tell a few of her own jokes in between introducing the performers, who may range from novice joke-tellers to those more experienced at delivering their “shtick.”

Guests looking for a night of entertainment, local comedians, and everyone in between are invited to the Jewish Community Center at 1125 College Avenue in Columbus. Beginning at 8 pm, January 18, a cash bar and refreshments will be served as the community shares jokes in memory of “Smiling Sam” Gordon.

For a night of levity and laughter with friends, tickets for this special event are $30 per person or $25 each for groups of ten or more. For tickets or more information, call 614-231-2731 or visit
