An Ohio Political Convention Doubleheader

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur) — Could Ohio be hosting not one but two political conventions In 2016? It’s starting to look like that could be a real possibility. Republicans were back in Cleveland Tuesday; they wanted to take another closer look at that city.

Strickland Says Dems Would Be Wise To Choose Columbus For DNC

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A day after Columbus mayor Michael Coleman said Democrats would lose Ohio in 2016 if they don’t choose Columbus as their convention city, former governor Ted Strickland agreed that it would be wise for Democrats to come here.
“I think Columbus is a terrific city and we have all the amenities, the hotel rooms and the transportation issues worked out,” Strickland told 10TV. “I think the Democrats, if they are wise, will choose Columbus.”

Columbus Prepares to Woo Democratic Officials

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur) — Next week is a big one for Columbus. Members of the Democratic National Committee will be making an inspection visit. Specifically, they’re coming to town to determine if Columbus should host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – David Wilhelm, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, says the Columbus effort to land the 2016 Democratic National Convention is real and that central Ohio is further along than Chicago was in 1996 when it landed the convention.
