2012 will mark the Bicentennial of Columbus. How do you think such a momentous occasion should be celebrated?

We would like to hear what you think would be the BEST way to celebrate the Bicentennial. In 50 words or less please share with us your best idea for an event, activity or promotion that will capture the spirit and vibrancy of Columbus—past, present and future. Use your imagination and creativity! Your idea can happen on a single day or over a period of time, in your neighborhood or throughout the city. By necessity budget and logistics will be a consideration in choosing the activities for the Bicentennial, you do not need to outline any specifics (logistics, budget etc.) for your idea. All ideas—big, small and in between–will be reviewed by the event strategy committee for the Bicentennial.

Please indicate if you—and/or your business, your neighborhood, organizations, etc.—would like to participate in planning for the city’s Bicentennial.

Please email your ideas to [email protected].

    I am hatching an idea…. :)

Consider Biking is gathering volunteers to help plan bike-focused events for the 200th birthday.

There is a General Information Meeting: Tues Nov 9, 6-8 pm. at Consider Biking Offices.

    Facebook Event

The Volunteer Meetup will touch on “Columbus2012 – Bike Team” as well as other opportunities with the Metro Parks Trail Help program and more.

    Facebook RSVP encouraged.

“We gonna party like it’s 2012”!

To bad we couldn’t get the NHL All Star game here in 2012. That would of been a good addition to the bicentennial lineup.

We could get everyone to gather downtown, then turn on all the lights in the buildings all at once!

    My idea:
A day out for everybody. Multilocation event where the city hosts a bbq for everybody and anybody. Everybody volunteers time to man the grills in shifts so nobody has to work.
