I had a new front door and side light windows put in my house over the summer and I still need to have it painted. It’s primed and ready to go. Does anyone know any good painters they can recommend?

    You can’t paint a door?

hahah I was thinking about doing it myself, but if it was going to be cheap I’d rather have a pro do it. I’ve never painted with oil paint and everything says you have to go that rout.

    Who’s everything?

Paint it red, I’ve always liked red doors

I guess most of the stuff I was finding online this morning said to use oil paints, but the more I’ve been looking the more I’m finding conflicting answers.

Door was red last time, going with black this time.

If you want a really swift effect….

Take the door off the hinges and place it horizontally

Then rub it down with fine steel wool

Then spray paint it gloss black

then rub it down with steel wool

    Then spray paint it black

then rub it down with steel wool

Then paint it with thinned outdoor gloss black paint

    hang it back up

rub with a small amount of hard butchers wax

OK, I obviously have too much time on my hands. Don’t even bother asking a painter to do it, it’s a three day job and it’s not worth the cash.

But if you can set aside half an hour a day for four days, it’s a neat effect.

We did it when we put our house on the market in spring.

    Bump!

not the door this time, but I’m looking for someone to give a quote on painting the trim of my house. It needs redone pretty badly. Anyone have any recommendations? reviews?
