Are there any local retailers where you can buy a new video game console or LED TV?

    Does Microcenter count? ;)

Are there any mom and pop video game stores anymore? I can’t think of any. I remember lining up for my PS2 outside one in carriage place that is long gone now.

Are there any mom and pop video game stores anymore?

There’s still a few, but their numbers are shrinking. With video games rapidly abandoning physical media, just like movies and music before them, the opportunities to sell and resell video games is going to continue to dwindle.

I imagine there will always be a niche for the sales of retro gaming systems and media, but that can largely be handled through swap meet events and online through amazon/ebay/etc. Not much of a need for a brick-and-mortar for that, outside of Akihabara.

That being said (and to get back on topic), there are still many opportunities to shop local for just about anything else… clothing, home decor, accessories, food, etc. So all is not lost for local businesses for Black Friday. Just the electronics sector. ;)
