    Ross Heart Hospital 5K: Are you Strong at Heart?

    Feb. 8, 7:45 am at Easton Twon Center (160 Easton Town Center, Columbus, OH 43219)

    $30 registration fee


    Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital 5K is walk/run event in which participants take over Easton Town Center to raise awareness for heart health on Saturday, February 8, 2014.

    You can choose to either run or walk the 5K (3.1 miles) – perfect if you are looking for some exercise to keep your New Year’s resolution.

    The entry fee proceeds benefit Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital research on the prevention of the number cause of death, heart disease. All but $10 of your entry fee is tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.

    Ohio Duathlon (Spring For SIDS Duathlon)

    The *new* Ohio Duathlon formerly the “Spring for SIDS” duathlon takes place on Sunday, April 27 at Battelle-Darby Creek Metro Park in Galloway, OH – just outside of Columbus, OH. A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to the SIDS Network of Ohio.

    The event consists of two duathlon distances:

    Short duathlon: 2 mile run + 11.2 mile bike +2 mile run

    Long duathlon: 2 mile run + 22.4 mile bike + 4 mile run

    RadioU 5K 2014

    The annual RadioU 5k takes place on Friday evening, May 31 at Sharon Woods Metro Park in Westerville. All entry fees and proceeds from the 5k go directly to RadioU.

    RadioU is a non-profit organization and is funded completely by listener donations. RadioU does not have any commercial sponsors and is kept running only by listener donations and fundraisers such as the annual RadioU 5k.

    The 1st 300 registrants receive a RadioU 5K event shirt.

    The OSU Ross Heart Hospital Open Water Swims (ROWS) is the perfect opportunity for swimmers and triathletes of all ages and abilities to practice their open water swimming in a fun, competitive environment and at distances not previously offered at other venues.

    It’s also the perfect opportunity for triathletes to practice their open water pacing and swimming in a mass start format. After each race you’ll have a chance to relax, kick back with friends, and enjoy the post race food and drinks. Distances for the series include a 0.25 mile, 0.50 mile, 1 mile, and 2 mile swims.

    New to open water swimming? Looking for open water swim technique and training tips? Looking to improve your open water swimming overall? There is a swim clinic as part of the activities led by certified triathlon swim coaches. No additional cost is required to participate in the clinic.

    Hey triathletes let’s get together for a community BRICK workout and triathlon clinic open to all triathletes regardless of experience and skill. This is a FREE training event where triathletes can work on transition skills and take part in an organized BRICK.

    A BRICK is a run, bike, run, bike, run training event that helps triathletes train their legs and bodies to get used to “running off” the bike. You can do as many BRICKs as you like and TriColumbus coaches and group leaders will time your BRICK.

    The BRICK distances are 12 mile bike and 1 or 2 mile runs.

    Note: The bike course is non-monitored and all cyclists must exercise caution and comply with all traffic laws and regulations, including those of USA Triathlon regarding drafting, passing, and side-by-side riding.


    Community Open Water Swim (Free event)

    A free open water swimming training event -multiple swim distances to train, learn techniques to aid your open water swim from other triathletes.

    Join us June 22, 2014 for the second annual Ross Heart Hospital TriFit Challenge triathlon and inaugural TriFit Challenge duathlon. Starting at Antrim Park and finishing at Ohio Stadium, the TriFit Challenge has three levels of challenge for everyone from beginners through expert athletes.

    Our triathlon is packed with heart-pounding action:

    • Start with a swim in the spring-fed waters of Antrim Lake

    • Bike to the home of the Buckeyes—Ohio Stadium

    • Transition inside Ohio Stadium

    • Race through the campus of The Ohio State University to finish at Ohio Stadium

    Once you’ve completed your TriFit Challenge, grab your medal, photos inside the stadium, and then visit our TriFit Tailgate at Ohio Stadium with live music, inflatables and activities for your kids, exhibitors and great food.

    The TriFit Challenge is part of the Ross Heart Hospital Wellness Series, and was created to encourage heart healthy activities to change the way you, your family and the members of our community live their lives.

    Tri: 0.25 mile swim + 12 mile bike + 2 mile run

    Fit: 0.45 mile swim + 12 mile bike + 3.1 (5k) mile run

    Challenge: 0.90 mile swim + 24 mile bike + 6.2 (10k) run

    Tri: 0.5 mile run + 12 mile bike + 2 mile run

    Fit: 1 mile run + 12 mile bike + 3.1 (5k) mile run

    Challenge: 2.4 mile run + 24 mile bike + 6.2 (10k) run

    Triathlon For Hope benefitting Stefanie Spielman Fund

    This is the 4th annual all-female triathlon designed to raise awareness about early detection of breast cancer, research into eradicating the disease, recognizing the survivors and those living with breast cancer, and remembering those who have been lost to this terrible disease. The proceeds from the event are donated to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research of the OSU Wexner Medical Center James Cancer hospital.

    The past three years, the event has contributed several thousand dollars to the Stefanie Spielman fund through participation in this triathlon.

    The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks and Greenswell have partnered together to create a fun community event designed to get youth involved in the exciting world of multisport and in heart healthy activities.

    The Splash-n-Dash Columbus is designed as more of a participatory event then that of a competitive event. The goal is to encourage participation regardless of experience or fitness level.

    The event entry fee is donation-based with 100% of the entry fee is donated to the Columbus Recreation & Parks aquatics program and P.L.A.Y. program. We want all youth to participate in this fun event so a donation is not required to participant but must register in advance.
