Hope that Woody & Jo’s isn’t damaged.May 20, 2011 12:08 am at 12:08 am #445516
It looks like the north side of the building was on fire. We detoured around to get to 71 on our way home tonight and it didn’t look like the south side had anything really going on.
Hopefully they can get it contained easily.
And hope everyone in Weinland Park is safe. ;)May 20, 2011 12:11 am at 12:11 am #445517

i shot some crappy cameraphone videos about 7:30. i’ll see if i can get them posted tonight, if no better ones beat me to it.
i was told that was about an hour into the fire, but it was still just insane how huge the smokeclouds were. (and i felt like a stormchaser trying to zig-zag around all the cops and cruisers to get in and out of alleys to shoot them.)
i never got in close enough while parked to get clips of the flames, but while driving near i could see they were just out of control . . .May 20, 2011 12:47 am at 12:47 am #445520

Bob said they’ve been doing lead and asbestos removal at that building since they’ve been preparing to tear it down. Wonder if there is an issue along those lines with it on fire.
