I have had a lot of respect for DeWine for his work on a number of judicial issues, but he’s losing me on this one. Why inflict misery upon the bereaved to make a point?

I wonder if he has any leeway on this as he’s got the sole duty to defend the Ohio Constitution, especially with the possibility of precedence being set in this case. That said, I absolutely agree that this is causing a lot of undue suffering to uphold a bad amendment that shouldn’t exist, but right now it’s the law of the land, approved by the voters.

This map on Wikipedia offers some perspective. Likely, a Queer life (and death) in Ohio is better than what we’d experience in any of various parts of, for example, Uganda.

I’d like to see more naming of names as for what conservative Christians in the US are linked to the oppression of queer folk in Uganda.

Meh. DeWine is a retread that belongs back in the mothballs. His shocking upset over Cordray in 2010, thanks to the Tea Party surge, resurrected his political career after Sherrod Brown stomped him into the grave in 2006. But he’s the same smarmy, self-righteous and ingratiating “family-values” type he’s always been. He’ll fight marriage equality in Ohio to his dying breath.
