    PLUS they have Sunday hours!

+1 Plus, they carry the high end rare stuff, like Johnny (sp?) Walker Blue for when you feel like getting your “treat” on….

What are the regulations about buying alcohol over the internet, anyway? To the extent that there’s a consensus on the large internet retailers’ sites, it tends to be, “We wash our hands of it, we assume that you’re acting in compliance with your own state’s laws, whatever those might be this week (we can’t update our site fast enough to keep track), and if you’re not, it’s your problem.” Most concrete state-by-state info seems to pertain to wine. So I’m wary of plunking down for a single-malt and ending up in a wrangle over whether or not it can be delivered, how to get a refund, yadda yadda. :?

The only thing that I don’t like about that place is the damn candles they burn in there. They smell like crap and are ridiculously potent. I can sometimes smell them as far down High Street as Bettys.

I am going to vote for 5th and 4th, or next to Ravari Room. I think I like 5th and 4th best. Maybe not the best high end selection – but hell – I AM POOR.

osulew wrote If not, I usually do the place on 5th in Grandview although I hate that they don’t take debit cards.

I bet they will soon. They are kinda the last one to jump on board. I still don’t understand it, btw. Texas may be limiting as far as selling hours go, but the cash only thing is ridiculous.

I don’t buy much booze, so I’m with you on Viking, it’s all I really need. I went to the place at 5th and 4th a few weeks ago (they have all new signage by the way) and it wasn’t THAT bad, but I still would never go by myself. Thanks, Merc!! Grandview is easiest and the one off Parson’s works if you’re south of downtown.

I live in GV… so if I have time I support Europia.. they are really good and have a pretty good selection.

When I need something quick and dirty… and dont mind dealing with some riff raff… I hit the one on Parsons and Stewart in the southend. The have a better selection than Europia.. and there are always some interesting characters to talk to…

To answer the first post though… one thing I learned when talking to the staff at Europia…is that the prices are the same no matter where you go. They are not selling the liquor–> the state is. They make a set profit margin for every transaction… but they do not own the stock on the shelves. Kind of strange system we have in Ohio.. and maybe a reason why our liquor prices are pretty expensive (Im pretty sure the other reason is taxes…)
