FALL MARKS A TIME OF NEW BEGINININGS FOR JOB SEEKERS

Changing seasons – especially Fall – often signify positive changes for job seekers. That is why New Directions Career Center, a non-profit organization serving Central Ohio for over 30 years, offers career changers, as well as those facing unemployment, three cutting edge programs designed to assist individuals in achieving professional goals. Placement Services are available to all program graduates.

Creating Career Options, held Monday, September 19th and Wednesday, September 21st from 5:00pm – 9:00pm, and Saturday, September 24th from 9:00am – 4:00pm, is a career exploration course open to men and women. The classes will focus on skill and personality testing, career resources, and assist individuals in creating a concrete plan for professional change. The course also examines networking, how to do it, and its role in helping career changers achieve their goals.

Advanced Career Techniques, held September 26th, 28th, and 29th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm, is open to men and women and addresses the cutting edge resources needed to conduct an in-depth job search. Participants learn how to construct resumes that stand out from the competition and get results. Other topics addressed include effective job search strategies, interviewing skills, and salary negotiation.

New Directions is a 21 day program designed exclusively for women. Running weekdays, October 3rd – November 1st from 9:00am – 3:00pm, this intensive program serves as a catalyst for change, empowering participants to examine who they are and where they want to go – both personally and professionally. The sessions, taught by educators, employers, health care experts, and career development experts, provide clients with the tools they need to create a career development plan.

All classes are held at 199 E. Rich Street in downtown Columbus. Fee waivers are available to qualifying individuals, and New Directions Career Center assists individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.

Since the text seems to be aimed at women, I’m going to guess stay-at-home mothers that need to get back in the workforce.

Financial Literacy applies to job seekers and seasoned professionals alike, and for some, Divorce planning is the key to understanding how a change in relationship status can impact earnings and take home pay for both women and men.
