Actually transit is not too bad. There are buses that run up Karl and Maize and also cross-towns on Oakland Park, N. Broadway and Morse.

I should clarify that I moved right off the #2, which took me exactly where I wanted to go for work, school, and play. There are buslines in the area, but they don’t take the most direct route to where I wish to go, as the #2 did.

I’ve not ridden it that far north, so I’m not sure how timely/effective it is, but the route map for the #8 looks like a pretty good connector from Linden to OSU, The Short North, Downtown and German Village:

While not my usual mode of transport, I have taken the #8 on several occasions. It runs pretty close to on time, but can run late by 5 minutes or so. From Maize and Oakland Park, it takes approximately 30-35 minutes to 5th & High. That’s roughly twice as long as it takes to drive, which really isn’t that bad.

The one thing to remember about the #8 is that it splits at North Broadway and half of the buses go up Karl while the other half go up Maize. So service is only half as frequent on either thoroughfare north of Broadway.
