Head over to Nationwide Plaza sometime for lunch….the large lobby inside has palms and smells of a maintenance crew a little too eager to put chlorine in the fountains. Anyways, it’s about as close to a rain forest as you can get in Central Ohio…

    I beg to differ…

This makes me a lot more excited to see the entire peninsula plan. It may not be nearly as generic as I feared it could end up being.

This might be the riverfront surprise the Mayor was talking about…

Ha! I’ve actually done that and it is quite nice. Also, Walker, Franklin Park Conservatory is great, and I do go there to escape the cold, but I think something like that in the middle of downtown (that I can walk to daily) would really brighten the winter.

I really miss the old jungle room at the conservatory, partly because I first saw it as a little kid, and the Wow Factor was intense.

Agreed. Best exhibit I’ve seen with Otters is the Monkey and Otter exhibit at San Diego Zoo[/url]

A “unique and up-close animal encounter” could soon be coming to the Scioto Peninsula. Patty Peters, Vice President of Community Relations at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, says that they are excited to be working with City and County leaders to bring a little piece of the zoo to downtown.

“(We) envision this as another opportunity to create a zoo adventure like no other – to weave play and activity with memorable animal experiences,” she stated.

the way this reads to me is ‘bear wrestling’. Anything less than that, and I’m going to be disappointed.

All East Franklinton bear wrestling is already planned to take place at 400WR.

Great news for Cbus and DT. I am sure we need rail lines now to shuttle everyone dt and back!

The zoo already has a train ride!

Shouldn’t be too hard to connect it to the new Downtown facility. ;)

I think choo choos should be in major consideration if this plan comes together, so we can connect the Short North, Arena District, Scitoto Peninsula, Milestone 229, and Columbus Commons/State House. With branches extending to OSU, German Village, Airport, Casino, and Franklin Park. We are so close to creating a really vibrant downtown. All we need now is to fill in the old casino spot, Scioto Peninsula infill, and some trains!
