    John Kuntz, The Plain Dealer
    on September 16, 2014 at 2:56 PM

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The state capital might talk Buckeyes’ football 365 days a year, but it would love to be home to the Browns for three weeks every summer.

The comments on Cleveland.com are fun to read. So much disdain for Cow Town. “Keep CLEVELAND Browns in CLEVELAND! [reporting from Berea]” Are they afraid we might get the chance to move the whole franchise if they give Columbus an inch of attention?

The talk of potentially putting the training camp near the Crew Stadium is interesting. It will hopefully force much better master site plan for everything between 11th and Hudson if that site were selected but I won’t hold my breath for that. Ultimately though, I’d probably put money on a location further away from downtown.

Those dopes will have a heart attack when they learn about spring training baseball.

Let’s just say some people are VERY unhappy about this. I’m seeing some anger out of people that are traditionally ok woth Columbus.

The Browns are already mathematically eliminated from the 2016 season.

As cool as it might be to have the camp in Columbus, I see no reason for taxpayers to pay for it. Let the team or civic private interests pick up the tab.

Why in the world should taxpayers fit the bill for this?

Agreed. I think we should not just be upset by that, but we should be upset with our business community for proposing state funds be used and hurting any relationship between Clevelanders and Columbus. This making main stream news up there is an awful image for us.

I see why Browns would lobby for it, and I understand why Columbus wants it, but Columbus needs to do it alone (which I would still oppose), or Browns alone. Not the state.

I took a deep breath and read the comments…
The Columbus Browns seems to be a funny theory. Sorry Cleveland. I really don’t want the team either. ;-)

One upside of holding training camp near campus: maybe OSU could teach the Browns how to actually win.
