Apartment boom hitting all major Midwest markets
    December 19, 2014 | Dan Rafter

Christy Lockridge, principal with the Chicago office of Prudential, has seen the trend: Today’s renters increasingly want to live in the center of urban areas. They want to live near public transportation. They want to be able to walk to restaurants and shops. They want to live largely without having to jump into a car each day.

Marcus & Millichap has reported on this trend, finding, for instance, that developers in 2013 and 2014 will have delivered about 2,220 new apartment units to Milwaukee. The company reports that developers brought 2,280 new apartment units to Indianapolis in the first three quarters of this year and about 4,300 units in Columbus during the last four quarters.

Columbus the industrial hotspot of the country? You bet
    March 12, 2015 | Dan Rafter

When it comes to industrial real estate, Columbus is the nation’s hot spot. Don’t doubt us. That statement isn’t at all inaccurate. Just ask the industrial experts at JLL. The company recently released its 2015 Columbus industrial report. And these experts are so confident in the industrial market in this Ohio city, that they actually used “Columbus, OH: The nation’s industrial hotspot” as its headline.

The proximity to the US population seems to be tossed around quite a bit but I was surprised at the Canadian figure, eh. It makes sense just never hear it mentioned, eh.

As JLL says, Columbus sits within a 10-hour truck drive to 47 percent of the U.S. population and 33 percent of the population of Canada.
