    China mulls high-speed train to US: report

    China is considering building a high-speed railway across the Siberia and Bering Strait to Alaska, across Canada to the US. In not so distant future, people can take the train from China to the US, according to Beijing Times Thursday citing Wang Mengshu, a railway expert and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

    Can you imagine how embarrassing it would be to have a Chinese super train pulling into a station next to our old old rickety Amtrak trains? The politicians will never allow it.



    No more embarrassing than it would be if they completed the project up to the American border, and across the checkpoint the tracks turned into old rickety Amtrak lines on the U.S. side. That’s some West Germany / East Germany-type imagery.

    Hey – if anyone can shame us into finally developing our passenger rail infrastructure, it probably is the Chinese.
