I’ve ended many an evening at the Treehouse with the bartenders (who are friends of mine and just about everyone else in there) yelling “GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE” at the top of their lungs to me and all the other hangers-on. Seems like the standard language for getting the message out.

I agree and they’re not going to argue with someone about an open sign.

Maybe Zach can write a song called “Get The Fuck Out”…. :)

Are you sure the exchange didn’t go a little something like this?

“Sir, it’s past 2am I need you to put your drink down and head to the exits”

“Do you know who the f*ck I am? Don’t tell me to Get The F*ck Out! I have over 3000 comments on Columbus Underground!”

    “Congratulations sir, please GFTO”

No one shld have a right to physically manhandle or push you out of their business unless it is in self defense or defense of the property or other customers. What if he would have been injured from being pushed? It sounds like Skully’s has more to worry about than just being caught serving or having someone drink after hrs.

“Get the Fuck Out Drunkie” is a slam-dunk for a hit song from some enterprising local artist.

Also totally worth getting a bunch of people together, printing up some “Get the Fuck Out Drunkie” t-shirts at Skreened, and all hitting Skully’s some night.

Police: Bouncer charged after patron pushed, injured

A Lucky Lounge employee was charged with aggravated assault Saturday night after being accused of pushing a customer onto a concrete staircase, according to an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit said 28-year-old Kenneth Blank was one of several bouncers escorting Kyle Cox outside the bar on West Fifth Street about midnight Saturday.

It says Cox was being “corralled to the back door of the bar as he walked backwards.” Cox was then pushed onto a concrete flight of stairs, where he hit his head and was knocked unconscious, officials said. He was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge, where he was told he had a subdural hematoma, or bleeding in his brain, and had a laceration on his head, the affidavit said.

It also said surveillance video from the bar showed Blank pushing Cox outside with both hands.

Blank was not in police custody Sunday night. His bail was set at $10,000. If convicted, Blank could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

I’m not a fan of someone getting physical though and shoving me out. The Treehouse doesn’t employ anyone remotely considered to be a “bouncer” either. Those guys tend to fall squarely in the “people not like me” category.

I bartend at the tree and I don’t like “Get the fuck out.” I know it does happen, but I personally never use this (ok, if it’s a bad vibe and seems like a possible DBag vs. Hipster fight is brewing, maybe I’ve announced it into the air. Not more than two occassions though.). I do tell people “You have 3 seconds to kill that or I gotta take it. Cmon – drink up freshman! Take it to the head!” around 2:22. This mock frat boy joke usually elicits a smile and the understanding that we’re closing. We CALL last call at 2am – we serve beers till about 10 after and shots until about 2:15 (preferably no mix shots, because that’s a major pain in the ass when you are closing out 50 tabs on one credit card machine, btw).

I don’t get why people want to stay out past 2:30 anyway. If I’ve turned up the lights to “harsh as fuck” mode, you aren’t getting any more drinks, the jukebox is shut off, and you are watching me file paperwork or clean or stock beer – how is that fun? That said, a bar with a TON of regulars and friends is hard to close when all 60 of em are hanging out. Apologies to Lew and Blammo if it’s ever seemed directed to y’all. I’ve even kicked fellow employees out when the party’s been too big at 2:15ish, but I’ve never used the F word to someone’s face, let alone yelled it.

Skully’s is a different kind of beast – there are usually a lot more beers to clear and the sheer size of it makes it easy to hide out and finish a last beer well after legal hours. They have to be vigilant as hell I bet. But escorting someone personally and yelling GTFO to their FACE is kinda shitty.

Yep…I’ve never gotten a Vuch GTFO. :) And if I did, I’d not be offended. I’m pretty clueless and half deaf by 2am.

I have gotten the…”last call, hurry up, time for one more shot of Jame-o, move it!”

    ;)

To be fair, most of my GTFO memories were from the previous Treehouse management. The current regime is much more “accommodating”, I must concede.

This thread is seriously starting to irritate me. As a musician it’s hard enough to find music venues that are good to musicians but at the same time if I bring my friends in for a show I don’t want them to be pushed. Instead of talking about it on an obscure thread on CU, take some sort of proactive action.

On that note, Ladies 80’s was super fun yesterday.

I wouldn’t really sweat it. I’ve been to Skully’s more times in the last decade than anyone should really ever admit to, and I’ve never once had a problem.

I mean I have problems remaining upright sometimes. And I damn near always leave without closing my tab. But that’s hardly their fault. ;)

But again, your mileage may vary.

ETA: That’s not to say that I haven’t seen security at Skully’s physically remove people from the establishment…but all of those I’ve seen have been well deserved and the folks involved were given ample opportunity to get out…some did not heed the warnings and some were just plain physically unable…

The bad propaganda for no reason thing is not helping anyone. I’ve never had a problem at Skully’s and I’ve been going there for the past five years, but then again I always leave five minutes before close to avoid the rush. Are we even sure the guy who pushed him worked for Skullys? Could you pick him out of a lineup?
