The new Giant Eagle Market District grocery store planned for the site of the current City Hall is more likely to open in the fall of 2016 — not this year, developer Frank Kass reported at Bexley City Council’s Jan. 27 meeting.
Kass said preliminary work toward the demolition of City Hall will begin once the city of Bexley’s municipal offices relocate to the Bexley Square Shopping Center. City Hall is scheduled to move Feb. 13, and the city’s Service Department will relocate to a newly renovated facility at 2777 and 2800 Delmar Drive.

The State of the Community address gave residents an opportunity to tour the city’s new municipal offices at the Bexley Square Shopping Center. The city relocated to its new space to make way for a new Giant Eagle Market District store that is scheduled to be built at the former site of City Hall at 2242 E. Main St. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, with the store’s opening scheduled for fall 2016.November 4, 2015 8:14 pm at 8:14 pm #1100454
Any word on when they are going to break ground on this project?November 4, 2015 9:40 pm at 9:40 pm #1100458
I was there over the weekend–city hall was fenced off and looked like mild demo had already begun. I’d say it has started. Moving city hall to the plaza next door likely was a complicated process, hence the delay.November 4, 2015 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm #1100460
