It’s getting colder. Might even snow on Thursday. Which means that it’s time for a very important conversation… SOUP.

    Hearty. Rich. Dense. Meaty. Earthy.

I’m looking for good, filling winter soups. Now through February.

Which restaurants have your favorites for the season? Bonus points for speedy lunch series and/or take-out service!

Barley’s throws down some really good soups this time of year, they do a eggplant parmesan that’s just great. Also their roasted mushroom soup and their red pepper bisque deserve a mention.

Roasted Pobalano pepper soup from Si Senior when they have it.

    N Star’s Tomato soup.

Not well known it seems but for a fast outstanding soup The Fish Guys at the North Market have two or three hearty chowders daily for not much money. Skip the crackers they provide and go to Omega and get a roll for 60 cents to sop with.

So freaking good! Add in an order of the saganaki and I’m in heaven.

Jason’s Deli has a large selection of tasty soups – the fire roasted tortilla is my jam.
