The arena district is great. If you are looking for something to do down there, you should check out My Live Calendar. From here, there are a nearly endless number of choices for events, and if you are hosting one, you can post it and reach out to more people than you ever knew possible.

Good to see that building going up. That will really finish off the Arena District, except for a few lots here and there.

I’m still surprised none of the lots across from the river have developed into mid-rise towers or even a hotel.

I could definitely see a hotel going somewhere near Huntington Park in the Arena District..

I believe that once upon a time a hotel tower was planned as a second phase anchor at the north end of the Buggyworks building. That was prior to NRI owning that second building, so I don’t know if that plan will ever re-emerge.

Otherwise, there’s not much buildable room left in the Arena District outside of the former casino location.

I always feel the parking lot next to 670 on the edge of the arena district is sort of an eyesore. Anyone know if there’s ever been any proposals for at least a garage there?

There was a plan for an urban Giant Eagle, with a dedicated parking structure. But I think with Grandview Yard down the road, those plans got nixed.

Will be very interesting to see what happens with the former casino site. Seems like a great opportunity to make a very dense residential neighborhood – something along the lines of German Village, but maybe a tad more dense. I’d like to see the plans include dedicated space for a school, church, park, and a little bit of neighborhood retail.

This is a chance for NRI to make a really interesting urban neighborhood development, much like what they did with the Arena District.

How about the prime spot where Columbus Business First is? I wonder if they have plans to stay in that location for a while? Its right at the southwest corner of Neil and Nationwide.

I’d like to see some plans for the remaining lot along Spring, from Neil to McFerson Commons. That has some pretty amazing potential IMO.

I wonder if NRI is holding off on developing this land until they sell more condos at North Bank? From the website it looks like they only have 15 left in the tower to sell. It would be an awesome location for a few more mid to highrise apartments and condos.

I would like to seem some more density and cohesion within the area bounded by I-670, Park St, Neil Ave and Convention Center Dr. That area is a hodgepodge mess.

I kind of like the hodgepodge mess in that area — it makes it feel a little more real. But I agree, the surface lots could go away.

I’ve always thought that would be a great location for a few residential towers to take advantage of the views to downtown and Goodale Park.
