My mom would like to move to Columbus, but we are having a tough time finding something affordable. She doesn’t have a house to deed to a facility (a common practice) or much income. Many of the facilities I’ve talked to run at least $3K/month, way out of her league.

Her main goal is to have someplace she can live with her two dogs that has other people her age in the vicinity, and where she doesn’t have to take care of exterior upkeep. If there was a community garden nearby, that would make it even better.

    Any ideas?

I don’t know how the pricing works for their independent living apartments, but the remainder of Westminster Thurber is $$$$$$$$.
I know the assisted living requires one heck of an up-front endowment.
    Nice places though.

Wesley Glen is just north of Graceland on N. High (don’t know the cost or dogs):

My coworker moved his Mom to Olentangy Village. It’s not a care facility but there’s a lot of older folks living there:

Both places have a lot of shops within walking distance.
