Flux + Flow Brings Barre to the Bar

“Barre at the Bar is a way for us at Flux + Flow to share our passion for dance out in the community,” says Russell Lepley-Pelacchi, co-owner of Flux + Flow dance and yoga studio in Clintonville.

“Ballet may sound intimidating but our mission is to make ballet accessible and enjoyable for all people of all body types,” he says. “Bringing ballet out of the studio and into a bar setting allows us to bring humor and levity to the equation and we hope that people curious about trying ballet will feel emboldened to come with a friend and give it a try!”

Since opening in Clintonville last year, Flux + Flow has held adult drop-in dance and yoga classes as well as hosted artists and community events.

“We have had so much support, “co-owner Filippo Lepley-Pelacchi noted, “And it is so good to see the students and families enjoying dance.”

“We had the idea in one of our ballet classes at the studio: I was speaking with clients who said they’d been trying to convince friends to join them for a ballet class but their friends were too nervous to come,” said Russell Lepley-Pelacchi. “We thought, ‘What can we do to make those people feel more comfortable?’ The answer, we’ll bring ballet to them and pair it with something they love, beer.”

Seventh Son Brewing in Italian Village will be the next location of Barre at the Bar.

Proceeds will go toward funding the next dance project from Flux + Flow. Adult students of the dance classes at Flux + Flow, as well as the in-house dancers, will perform on April 12 and 13t later this year.

“Barre at the Bar will be more than just a good time it will also help in raising the necessary funds to pay the artists and production costs related to our performance. To me this event is a win-win. We get to share what we love out in the community while promoting a developing a richer, more thriving dance community in Columbus.”

Barre at the Bar will be at Seventh Son Brewing, 1101 N. Fourth St., at 6 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2019.  Ticket price of $25 includes a tray of beer samples.  Tickets are available on Facebook.
