Fleur’s Dream Supports Homeless Through Harsh Winter Season

As we move deeper into the winter season, the area’s homeless, numbering over 58,000, are needing more support. Lower temperatures usually drive more people to the counties’ shelters, filing them to capacity, and forcing the overflow onto the streets. Individuals need socks, gloves, hand and foot warmers, warm meals, winter jackets, blankets, lotion and other hygiene products.

Fleur’s Dream, which launched in New Orleans in 2014, is providing critical resources to the homeless of Columbus, Louisville and New Orleans. CU had the chance to sit down with co-founder Jennifer Wright and discuss the organization’s beginning, as well as its services and resources. Once a month, those in need can catch them in Columbus, at 161 N. Grant Ave., offering a warm meal and hygiene products. They’ve also partnered with local stylists and barbers to provide haircuts and shaves.
